Who has them? I never hear any mention of them and they came in not that long ago. My boy is nearly full grown I think, just wondered if there was many around still?
They are available from an auckland importer only AFAIK? They are expensive retail for what they are IMO, especially if theyre going to randomly die off like the blues!
They come in as Gold Saums (which is a 'fake' GT, the real ones are real hard to get it beleive) so maybe thats another name you could ask your LFS for as they may not know what a green terror is.
I agree with Stella. When your ammonia is high from building up over time usually the ph is quite low too. Ammonia is less toxic in lower ph's. If you are to go and do a big waterchange and your tap water has a higher ph value you will remove some ammonia but you will also up the ph which makes the remaining ammonia more toxic, this could result in another fish die off. Lots of little ones IMO. Oh, as a side note, IME silver dollars are wierd fish, mine 'nearly died' when I purchased mine and every time they moved tank they proceeded to nearly die again  They were just plain woosy and another lot I know will lie on their sides on the bottom for several hours after each water change :-?
For your kit Jc that is correct, your water is less than 1dkh (according to the test anyway), you have the API brand correct? Te Puke and i think Welcome Bay can also experience the same probs. Bird grit fixed my kh and only raised the ph a fraction.
We sure do ship. Rotorua has a fantastic store, so much to choose from and their saltwater tanks are just awesome! We try our best to be lower price wise, even for special orders
Jamos, you should have come said hi! There is also a lovely snowball hanging out with the elephant nose. The royal and sunshine have hollow tails, they pack the food away and have been growing accordingly  Thanks heaps for your post
I had a few young boys in a breeding trap keeping them seperate from their sisters and mum and i lost three (of four) to jumping onto the carpet, the last one managed to jump out into the tank every day I decided it must have been stress from being confined as their water is changed nearly every day and they werent hassling each other *shrug*
Sounds pretty gourmet to me! Lots of waterchanges like your discus and they will be big in no time! Maybe have a look on planet catfish for your plecs L number and see if you can find any breeding accounts on them?
Are Parambassis ranga the same as Chanda Ranga? Chanda Ranga is what they are labelled as on the lists along with 'glass angel' so that is why they would be called glass angels at the shop
Easy as to look after and we found ours bred without even realising! Found some little tackers swimming around one day in their tank with apple snails and pristella tetras *shrug* They seem pretty disease resistant and do live for quite a while.
Big sharks, synos, oscars, plecs, firemouths, acaras, big angels etc are a few ive had success with with my big gold sev, she gives the odd chase but has never hurt anything i have put with her.
I treated a wild Apisto with Furan2 when he had popeye (not saying yours is or isnt, its hard to say) and it worked wonders. Maybe it was a miracle? Who knows, but it fixed it real fast. Good luck
If the discus dont have big bellies (from the feed before) and follow me as I walk past the tank they get fed. But they get waterchanges every day. They grow well  I do find once they hit adulthood their appetite really drops tho and they just wont eat what they did when they were youngins
Some great advice up there, I am sorry whatever shop you went to gave you such dodgy info for you to start out on, its discouraging when your new fish get sick but you are doing much better than most by doing research Maybe ring the shop, explain that you purchased your fish from there under the assumption they were cold water fish (and you have been told since that just because they can tolerate it doesnt mean it is ideal for them), they have got sick since but you would like to do the best for your fish and a: purchase a heater or b: return some fish in exchange for a heater. If the shop is unwilling to help you out dont go back, it was naughty of them to not advise you that the fish you had were not suitable for your current setup.
P.s. tropicals are much more fun anyway
Vet bills suck aye, we had a $5000 one for our dog 4th of Jan (just after ya spend all ya monday over the holiday season  ). Please post the link when it is up for us to have a peek at
