  1. Just give the smaller one to me and I'll set up a tank for him and let Dan feed him baby swordtails.
  2. May have been lack of water flow? Was there an airstone in the breeding net?
  3. Or you could make an egg tumbler... instructions in the DIY section. I had a simular problem... turns out one of the loaches was getting into the cave so Dad had kicked out most of the eggs.. I lost just over 1/2 my eggs but then I *saved* almost half. Now have close to 40 babies 34 days free swimming and eating like crazy. Some of them are already 2 1/2 cm long.
  4. I have both of the types that Zev has. I think my loaches are too well fed.
  5. You're a man after my own heart, Frenchy. Were you down there when they were trying to save the park by selling red & black socks? We weren't allowed to were them to school [Avonside Girls] but we did anyway. They soon discovered that you couldn’t put half the school in detention at once for breach of uniform. :bounce:
  6. I have Bristlenoses in all my livebearer tanks and even a clown loach that's moved around to fight snails, I half dose the tonic salt and they seem fine. Maybe a 1/2 recomended dose of tonic salt in your common tank would help??
  7. And don't forget that it's "Jade Stadium AT Lancaster Park" (Can you guess I'm ex-CHCH too?)
  8. They are simular... if you want to drool over guppies that we don't tend to get in NZ may I suggest http://champguppystar.com/content/index.php
  9. I think you need to import a few hundred or so when you import guppies so I wouldn’t be too worried about the tank looking empty. If you are that game may I suggest Red Moscow Albinos? :bounce:
  10. Wow... that's a really cool thing to read about a forum that I'm involved in. [After all it is the ppl involved that make it, right? ] I'm glad you feel welcome Brad. I've learnt so much since being here as well. The place really does seem to have a good buzz. So cool to read warm fuzzies after a 7 1/2 hour shift. It's sometimes amazing how many wonderful helpful people are here.
  11. Very off topic but Mystic the new Avatar is way cool. :bounce:
  12. Exactly... and being an egg-layer if it develops both "he-bits" & "she-bits" it should be able to reproduce by itself.
  13. Don't you mean "One headed" Alan? If it/they are bi-gender would be interesting to see if it/they can "Self repoduce"
  14. Do you mean like this Moscow Black? http://champguppystar.com/content/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=63&category_id=2e1398080669b7be0b243413f99c5a89&option=com_phpshop&Itemid=1
  15. Being such a small tank it will struggle to keep the heat with this cold weather. I would use poly, old blankets, towels or old clothing (Anthing that will retain heat) around 3 sides of tank to lessen the heat loss if possible. Either that or replace with a 50watt heater. Seems like overkill on such a small tank and in warmer weather it would be but when room temp is around zero degrees over night and you're trying to keep the tank up to 24-28 degrees... That's me 2 cents anyway.
  16. You could always just plant it up and let the plants get established then cycle it when you get back cycle it. Maybe give them some fertiliser too.
  17. LOL he's drugged up on flu meds so wouldn't know what you took... (Are you the one that has his missing car keys??)
  18. Hi (again) BlueandKim often have swordplants for sale on trade me - not sure what ones but wouldn't hurt to send them a PM. They may be able to help you work out what your closest club is too. Good luck on the solid colour guppies. Cheers KA
  19. You have 29 fish in a NEW tank ?!?!?
  20. The pet shop may have been genuinely concerned that sick fish would be put in with healthy fish and wiping them all out. In saying that if the friend had/could set up a Q tank for the sick fish it would have been a different scenario altogether. I would have tried to save the fish but I have the tanks – as we only have one side of the story I myself do not want to be one to judge.
  21. Make sure they don't just flush them down the loo... they need to be dead b4 they're disposed of.

    help

What do you feed? How much do you feed? What temp is the tank kept at? What sort of heater do you have? Do you have an independent thermometer? Do you have plants and what types? Does it have a light and how many hrs is the light on a day? Where did you get the guppies from? How long has the tank been set up? How many guppies did you get at once? How did you introduce the guppies? (Did you sit the bag in the tank for 20-30 mins to make sure they were at the same temp or did you just chuck them in? Did you net them out and put them in the tank or did you tip the water in too?) How hard were the guppies to catch when you bought them? (Were they stressed out?) What sort of filter do you use? ….. Basicly “More info please, we want to help.â€
