  1. Thanks man I am putting leave in the the afternoon too.. Hopefully some others can help too! We can't do it all ourselves.. Yeah I am assuming as exhibitors we will get free entry (obviously we are paying to have a stall as well)..
  2. More info on the expo here http://www.petanimalexpo.co.nz/preview.html
  3. The Auckland fish keepers association is running a stand at the pet expo over the above dates and we are looking for as many volunteers as possible, even if you are not a club member and can only offer a few hours just let me know. There will be a meeting this Sunday to plan things PM me for an address. The plan is: Fri 26th 12-7 move all tanks into expo venue, fill tanks and get them all setup. This will be a big day) Sat 27th 10-5 Man the stand Sun 28th 10-5 Man the stand Sun 28th 5-8 Break it all down - This is also hard work to do. We are looking for volunteers to help move tanks, setup tanks, even lend a few plants/fish to help us have a good display there. Also looking for volunteers to man our stand and talk about fishy related stuff, and hand out club flyers etc, we are hoping to get enough volunteers to have 2 people on at all times (to keep each other company) and hopefully only a few hours over the weekend to spread the work. If anyone can help in any capacity at all or offer any suggestions then let me know, this is hopefully going to be a big membership drive for the club/FNZAS, we are looking to offer discounted membership for new members for the weekend. And we are hoping to setup some good display tanks and entice new people into the hobby.
  4. Chuck some peat and alder cones in a bag in your water conditioning bucket with an airstone and see if it makes a difference.. If it does nothing then your KH might be too high in which case you will have to goto a different water source like rain water etc. Also you are using a water softening pillow, I am unsure how these work but water softness/hardness is completely different to PH..
  5. Agreed Although those festivums are nice fish too!
  6. Is there an option on the page that you got displayed to contact an admin? There might be something in what you did - join and not post and then request a password change that is flagged to auto ban as it could be a spammer.. I am sure it can be fixed.

    g'day

Hi and welcome mate, glad to see that you got on here
  8. Awesome meeting everyone Thanks so much to pink_fish for arranging it and hosting everyone!
  9. Must be a bug I am sure that someone can fix it.. Probably not David or Reece though as neither of them are Admin..
  10. If the KH is low then the PH will drop with the addition of peat etc, you can add some driftwood/peat and then a little bit of crushed coral etc to keep it stable.. What is your intention with trying to lower the PH?
  11. The parents obviously do a good job up to a point, I would wait until they are free swimming or near to it and siphon them, the longer you leave them with the parents the better off they will be.. but if you had to I have had success in the past with removing the cave with female/eggs inside into their own tank.
  12. What is the KH of your water?
  13. What are the dimensions of the tank? Yellows and dems would be good, but the dems will probably outgrow the tank.. If your fussy make sure you shop around and get descent yellows, plenty of people (even people who claim they are good quality) are selling rubbish these days
  14. Just a reminder that this is tomorrow night! New members are welcome just get in touch for the address etc..
  15. Redness can indicate a bacterial infection of some sort..
  16. It looks like allot more than a heater burn to me but I am not sure what it is.. If the fish isn't swimming well and not eating then there probably isn't much hope, just isolate and chuck some salt in and hope for the best I guess...
  17. Prazi can be brought over the counter as a wormer called droncit which is 50mg/tablet of prazi, metro is harder to get but can be done.. Personally I would go for the internal problems first - the fish isn't eating which will kill it and probably isn't due to anything external. PP is very hard on fish and the fish is already under enough stress without trying to treat everything at once especially when there is no other evidence of anything external, prazi will help with gill flukes too from memory.
  18. Might help to use some metro as well as the prazi just in case.. Levamisole will treat different worms to prazi I would try prazi first if you can source some, and PP is more commonly used for external issues it wont really help with internal worms.. Don't have my experience with discus but I know the descent breeders I have talked to have said as flosty has that once the head gets all pinched in like that it will never really fully come back, you may be able to deworm it and get it eating so it lives though.
  19. Our corolla has 655k's and still going strong on original auto box and engine
  20. Sounds like you brought a dud one.. Or one that had reached a stage where everything wore out.. Nissans are good but don't buy anything with a qg engine in it.. They are known for blowing head gaskets which ours did and cost a fortune within a month of buying it..
  21. Yeah id be popping down to repco/super cheap and grabbing a cable and chucking it in it is pretty easy.. I did mine on a 96 avenier so basically the same car Hmm diver working on your car - no comment
  22. It sucks when bloody cars keep breaking down, and they always do it just before you are due to sell them, you end up fixing everything and just wondering if you should keep them because everything has been fixed.. On the plus side a clutch cable should be easy to fix yourself I did one a while back, it should cost stuff all from parts master etc.. Hardest part I found was hooking it upto the clutch pedal I was upsidedown wedged under the steering column with the seat right back trying to hook it up, but it was no real biggie.
  23. Not many of them around in the country any more.. I have only seen 1 pair! Pretty sure the canaries that Nav is referring to were brichardi too.
  24. I guess that depends on how often you crash them?
  25. Sounds good! Sorry can't help my ikola aren't breeding for some reason You gotta start on the altos now?
