  1. Would this be big enough?? http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/sump-f ... 16677.html
  2. I dunno I would take a guess and say look at the normal ice blue female and add some pink with red eyes as thats what the male looks like..
  3. judging by the pics here http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/s ... hp?id=2317 a male should have red fins like a normal ice blue but be pink with red eyes.. does yours have any red in the fins?
  4. so it is.. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/feeding_mbuna.php
  5. but isn't spirilina the best thing for africans?
  6. yeah ive seen it on a few africans actually... One of our female ice blues has a few random dots on it and ive seen some yellows and red zebs with it too... Dont really know what the story is I just presume its some sort of random thing.
  7. what types of cichlids are these?
  8. lol thats in interesting time frame.. I have no idea but as always it depends on how big the tank is what and how much your feeding and how often your water changing.. If you want to grow them fast do daily water changes feed heaps of high quality food and have them in a big tank

I dont think its people taking too many fish thats wiping the lakes out I think its the introduction of predatory fish (for food for the natives) that are eating all the fish..

yeah i guess thats why they make it hard They have to be able to live in nature and be enjoyed there as well.. although have of lake vic has been wiped out apparently I doubt it will be long before malawi and tang get destroyed as well..

yeah its a wicked looking place would love to go there one day.. would love even more to take some nets and bags and bring some home
  13. yeah the spots look too big to be white spot.. Maybe just the fact its all blured but I haven't succeeded in taking a pic of it its so small..
  14. Sweet thanks for everyones help I have added salt and done more water changes the tank was getting 10% every second day anyway as it was in a grow out tank so the water should have been pretty good must have been a random thing.. I also put meth straight onto it when i first noticed it didn't seem to do anything for him.. The swelling or infection has gone down but the eye is still white I guess only time will tell if hes blind for good!
  15. If you really want to raise them and it looks like you could do it then id move the ornament with the eggs and the parents into their own tank, they may eat them, but it wont be long until they breed again.. Or you could just leave them be and move them afterwards they wont take long to condition and breed again.
  16. lol i had the same thing with bristlenoses a while back lost about 15 of them and all with no obvious problems everything else in the tank even had blue rams breeding in there.. They all came from different places tried everything but just kept loosing them.. Recently ive been keeping them alive but only in my african tanks with high ph and hard water so who knows! Sounds like you just had a bad run or the fish didn't like what was happening, my feelings are if they are any reasonable size and you've had them 3-4 weeks its unlikely to be any fault of the breeder because they were bred and raised to the size in the first place and if the breeder breeds and sells alot of fish you can usually trust them. Sounds like you had hard luck.. Maybe GBA's are just the one fish you want to keep but for whatever reason they just dont work out for you.

  18. I noticed a little white mark on this guys eye, presumed he had smashed into a rock and then overnight it grew into this, it looks like pop eye from the pics but it actually appears to be something on top of the eye as opposed to something building up behind the eye and pushing it out.. Anyone have any idea what I can do for him? Sorry about the bad pics hes not very photogenic. Thanks for any help anyone can suggest

    OB Peacock

Must be that time of the month our OB peacock bred this morning too Although shes supposed to be a veteran so hopefully she will go the distance..
  20. lol ok then everyone pick on me They were in there they were happy I did take all the rocks out many a time because I had to to catch any fish and sometimes I left them out for quite some time and nothing got eaten ive read alot of profiles on giraffes trust me I do my research and yes they shouldn't have worked but they did so who knows. Alot of people off here and trademe saw that tank and said how awesome it was to see all the big and little fish getting along so well who knows like I said to frenchy im not a prick im not mean to my fish if they were suffering or getting hurt or not getting food or anything they wouldn't be in there. And advice I give is by what I see not what I read so yeah who knows for everything you read or see theres another thing you can read or see that contradicts it. Anyway I do respect yours and frenchy's opinions as you've always given good advice ill just agree to disagree again on this one and encourage people to try their own things and make up their own minds
  21. Sweet as then I knew they were happy otherwise they wouldn't have been in there im not mean.. They were happy and unabused... I think we'll just agree to disagree on this one
  22. Yeah those 2 weren't the best of mates but they still managed to get along most the time, I think I was just lucky afterall that everyone got along.. thanks Mekhaela I try my best.
