Fully free swimming, as in not lying on the bottom taking little jumps off it etc.. Liquid fry should workl, if you want some microworms I have some.. Some people have had luck with BBS as well... How many did you get to survive?

Try it and look at their stomach's if they get full its good if not they need something else

Im pretty sure the direct application works alot better and also has the advantage of not staining all your silicon and tank..

lol I saw you posting your post off here on there Im glad to see you got the same answer on there.. I have heard of the adult fronts that most of the ones in NZ come from eating an adult J mailieri lol but a 5" yellow and the pic is classic!

I dont know what to do with your holding fish, I would probably leave her a while and see what she does strip her if she holds long enough, if its one of her first broods she may well spit or swallow early.. I was always told never to feed tropheus anything but vege based foods unless you get get hold of NLS..

Yeah its usually what I do transfer them into a tank that makes them easier to catch, then I catch them twice a day, I usually chuck some rock salt in the water too dont know if it helps but its supposed to help with fungus. I feel mean dropping the meth blue on them and stressing them out but I ignored the first time it happened and the fishes eye rotted out...

I know nothing about these at all but I would assume the wattage of the ballasts would be a maximum power type rating.. Ie a 150W one can do anything upto and including a 150W bulb, if a bulb or whatever doesn't need to draw current and use power it wont so it wont do any damage to it to run a smaller one... lol could be wrong though but thats how im thinking about it.

You could make one.. Just get a piece of pipe the right size and drill some holes in it block one end.. Or just goto a pet shop and buy one id probably refuse the pay what they want for one but im a cheap ass..

I wouldn't try and restrict it flow is good unless your fish are going round and round in circles like a washing machine.. If you need to difuse it just turn the spray bar so the jets are going into the side of the tank..

If it is only maturing it should still be active and eating etc..

lol yeah I can just imagine the amount of crap ill get for asking permission to go and look at fish.. Theres a newsletter they send home to family and that I would be coined the crazy fish guy or something.. Im not looking forward to the herc trip it was 9 hours to Syndey when I flew there on it luckily I think were flying via aussie..

I dont use carbon unless im trying to achieve something.. Ie removal of med's etc.. I brought a 5kg bag of it ages and ages ago (because when I first started keeping fish 10 years ago I always used it) and haven't used stuff all of it..

He has grated his eye on something.. I have had it happen a few times and only lost one eye... When I notice it happen I catch the fish and drop meth blue or tonic directly onto the wound and I do that daily or twice daily until it clears up..

They're certainly cool and very different fish good luck with the breeding program let everyone know how you get on ill be very interested, would be keen on starting my own if I wasn't buying too many fish at the moment (due to go overseas soon) really sucks because I have 10 empty tanks in the fishroom would be good for a project like this!

Yeah the site you posted seemed to think that they 2 blue pairs were either infertile or the recessive blue gene made the fry so weak they didn't survive..

Yeah thats some awesome colours thats for sure.. Do you need to breed them with a JD? I had heard that blue dempsey's were on the list but thought they were just the jack dempsey's.. Breeding sounds interesting.. If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay for them? It sounds like an interesting challenge and experiment in breeding them.
