  1. They are just zebra, a hybrid a mix of whatever noone will really know what.. Very very common in the hobby and it does suck when some throw back and look relatively pure and confuse people..
  2. Internal - metro External - Prazi.. Although I was debating this at Mekhaela's house yesterday with Daf maybe Prazi does internal as well?
  3. Ive been managing to cut (relatively successfully even) glass with a $3 warehouse cutter and a $10 green diamondator (or something like that) cutter I got the green one from placemakers. I was looking into getting an expensive one but then Barrie came on and said that was all he used so I figured it was just technique so yeah I worked on it, as Alan said only make one cut, make it at the same pressure right the way through stay at the same speed and straight and I use some oil lol I used brake fluid that seemed to work. Oh and clean along where your cutting with second hand glass. Good luck

Awesome man im glad they're finally doing something for you.. You made the trip down a fair while ago.. You can use the traditional "green water" which is basically any water which has gone green and contains tiny bacteria and algae and all sorts of good stuff. Otherwise some microworms can be small enough for them to eat straight away. Also have done some reading and apparently you can get san franciso bay brine shrimp, not the san francisco bay BRAND ones but the ones from that place and they're alot smaller than the other brands and newly hatched rams etc can eat them.. Haven't really tried to get them yet but its what ive heard. Good luck hope it works out for you
  5. That would be a cool tank, you could stick more fish than that in there if you wanted to others like yellows and demasoni too..
  6. personally I would stay away from Bumblebee's and auratus due to the size of your tank, although ive had no aggression problems from bumblebee's and I had a huge male (I did have no females with him which may have helped) they get huge and have a rep for being nasty as do auratus..
  7. Awesome pics man.. Loving the comps they are some wicked fish think ill have to try and track some down eventually.. Are your fronts breeding?
  8. Awesome thats good to hear I have trouble with my peacocks that I try and breed from although theres like 6 of them in each tank they just hide, have started to stick my other grow out peacocks in the same tank with breeders to give them enough confidence to come out so I can actually see them.
  9. Ive had quite a few issues with them hiding in many of the tanks ive had, most often it is fixed by adding more fish or more confident fish sometimes they get better as they settle in, it really sucks because it only takes one fish to get a fright and they all bugger off!
  10. If your still having trouble you could add some dither fish, rainbows are good, but you could get away with tiger or gold barbs (that is my guess I haven't tried them) but have put rainbows in there and they do well.
  11. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/a ... acocks.php
  12. Sometimes adding some dither fish can help.. what fish you got in there?
  13. Can albinism occur in any fish? Im confused as it how it all works.. What are the albino peacocks that are sold around the place?
  14. Yeah I might be keen for some babies also Keep in touch good luck raising them!
  15. Its ok hope it all works out for you cockatoo's are cool fish cant wait to get some more What strain have you got?
  16. Personally I would remove the mother or babies because shes done her job now.. It has been speculated that leaving the babies with the mother makes them grow alot faster but I haven't tried it, there is always the risk that she may eat them so ive always played it safe.
  17. You need to run both filters (or take the media out of your other filter and stick that in your canister.. Regarding the order, generally you stick the noodles or any other bio media last and the roughest mechanical sponge first and then the finer ones.. I guess for that you need to figure out what tray is closest to the inlet and outlet. Either way the filter will still function but if you stick the noodles first they will get pretty mucky.. Hope that makes some sense and helps you
  18. LOL I can picture the fish in my head but cant for the life of me find the sc name for it.. Really frustrating! Im sure someone will find it for you
  19. Im having the same problem for my fishroom I will have aroud 15 tanks running it in when its going and it is fully lined with fireproof poly.. My thinking is 1 x 1000W oil heater is equal to 3 and a bit 300W fish tank heaters so im heating 15 tanks for what I would be heating 3 of my 4-5ft tanks for? And adding a fan to circulate air wouldn't cost much power either.. You do however have the condensation issue and the fact it will be pretty warm and uncomfortable in there.. Im lucky mines in the garage so not too worried about moisture..
  20. Yeah its all about supply and demand and what you think something is worth isn't always what it is actually worth.. The only way to find out what anythings worth is to $1reserve it but you might get alot less than what you hoped for them. And fronts are becoming more common and with all the colonies around the place they will only become more common. Anyway Janine good luck with the sale they look like nice fish! I think I read the same question about fronts and demasoni on cichlid-forum and the answer was the same you could use the search on there if you wanted to find it.

    RIP bluey

That is an awesome fish! Sorry you lost him at least you have some small ones to carry on so its not a total loss..
  22. Yeah have heard of fronts eating a adult J maileri so yeah probably woudn't either.. Have you had no luck selling your fronts Janine?
  23. I know we have the red top version but it looks nothing like that.. blue fish with red top fin.. Haven't seen those ones around though..
  24. Sounds like you have your setup well thought out and have a good setup, have you got any pics yet? Might also be a better idea for a mod to move this to the cichlids section.. Dem's and yellows will look awesome together, try to get a few demasoni (recommendation is around 10-12) as they're agro and tend to wipe each other out in smaller numbers.. AS for red or light blue.. For your light blue you could add cobalt blue's or any number of blue peacocks, (fryeri, royal blues, chilumba etc) and for your red its pretty hard to get red africans best you can get is maybe red empress (very hard to get at the moment) or maleri red and even then they're not all red. And also you should only have one species of female peacock in there to avoid hybrids. Maybe go for something common like red zeb's they're more orange though, or if you want a different tank you could stick some red rainbows in there..
