  1. Out of 40 tanks they broke 4-5 on the way back up, but on the way down they only broke one.. They were all insured though
  2. I have always had my tanks moved with my household stuff with nz van lines.
  3. Angels can be community fish but not really suitable for a community with small fish (guppies neons platties and other smaller tetras etc) as they get big enough to eat them, and they are also quite agro when they pair off. Best suited to a bigger tank (200L would be big enough for a few) with other larger robust schooling fish that get big enough that they dont eat them..
  4. I can't view the link either, but I just hooked up a power head to a pipe and plumbed it in when my one of these broke.. Or another option would be an external.
  5. It is out west, but I can buzz around Auckland to pick it up if people don't want to come all the way out west.. Fishroom is always open for viewing too if someone did want to drop off
  6. Have some gear that needs to be brought up and thought I would post on here first to see if anyone was making the trip as some of it is fragile and might get broken in the post..

    Poret Foam

A mate of mine was looking into this but when factoring in the cost of shipping it got very expensive..
  8. Backing on the tank would provide the fish some security too. It wont be adjustment to the PH although you do have a very high PH, how are you achieving that?
  9. No comment on the clowns in hard water lol But mine just eat what all the other fish eat, NLS, salmon pellets and flake, clowns are friendly and come upto the surface to eat and are always fat and growing really fast. I haven't seen any serious aggression from any of the cichlids directed at the clown loaches.
  10. I will agree with this comment, sometimes you find peacocks and mbuna that get along alright but generally they don't get along very well. More info in this article http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/peacocks.php in saying that I do keep my maleri reds in with demasoni and they seem to get along alright and have peacocks in a few of my mbuna tanks. Your fish should be out and about I have kept similar fish and had no issues, I would watch the afra for aggression and crossing with the rusties, afra can get quite big and dominant as well.
  11. They can be a bit skittish when moved, but I have found they usually settle within a day or. The crutial thing is the tank placement, if you place the tank somewhere with random sunlight angles or by doors or other blind corners where people always come into view suddenly they can get freaked out.
  12. In a smaller tank like that you could get away with things like brown haps, electric blues, lithobates and Taiwan reefs. Only issue is most haps are predators and they may eat any fry produced.. How big are the fish you already have?
  13. lol Yeah there is always that I guess they used to be Barrie's fish
  14. I have dealt with Simon a few times and he has been really good haven't dealt with him for a while though..
  15. Is the silicone still stuck to the glass or can you get your finger nail in there and actually pull it off the glass? If you clean all the algae and stuff off the silicone you can get new silicone to sort of stick to it, it is never 100% though..
  16. I would question the quality of the silicone job if a fish can pick it off? lol hmm maybe that was the one that was dropped on his head as a fry?
  17. Saw on Facebook that they pulled it
  18. I have seen yellows with all of those fish and they have gone ok, yellows are relatively placid, the only real issue is they can be quite agro and may be a little hard on the other fish and the differences in water parameters. Don't stress about bacteria in substrate I reckon 99% of it is in the filter. I have always just set up new tanks and moved fully stocked tanks and filter and not bothered about substrate and never had an issue. Yellows may be hard on plants but it is worth a go sometimes they are ok depending on what the plants are and what your yellows are like.
  19. I don't have white spot very often its been years since I have seen it but I have always just added salt even with bristlenoses and clown loaches with no issues..
  20. Yeah pic of your male looks good, pic of last fish not so much only time will tell but generally they should only have horizontal lines not heavy barring like your other one pictured.
  21. I have a friend who breeds lots of them can put you in touch if you want
  22. He got his off me.. Do you have males and females? If so either put them in their own tank and breed them or pm me I would like to buy or borrow them to breed.
  23. Only problem is if the fish from your second group are dodgy then you will still end up with dodgy fish.. It the hardest thing with africans in NZ, which is why I am gutted that I lost my good line of johannii! I do know one guy with them I might see how many he has, if that fish you had was a johannii it would only have horizontal lines.
