  1. would you know if the aquastar is as purple or more purple than the power glo tube?
  2. the pro3e 2076 the lowest of the pro 3 range already cost more than a fx5!! and it only does 400litres but i would still buy it over a fx5 due to the quality of the filter
  3. man you wonder how much this new filter is going to cost, the pro3 and pro3e is already expensive
  4. i never turn over my sand and havent had any problems but my tank only last about 8months before i take everything out and start again with a new landscape, it gets boring looking at the same thing all the time dunno, i breed discus so i have more discus than i can count......each tank gets a 30% or so water change once a week
  5. hairgrass needs a fair amount of lights but it could be a nutrient deficiency, check this site for causes http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_nutrient.htm lighting, co2 and fertilizer all have to match, ie...high lights will need high levels of co2 and ferts...
  6. top tank is hair grass and bottom tank is dwarf sag
  7. i find pleco are not good for planted tanks as they seem to always up root plants, i use otocinclus instead of plecos there are two type of co2, pressurized and DIY. pressurized systems are awesome but costly to setup, DIY is only good for a tank up to 100litres or so and also the tank cant have extreme amounts of lighting as it will not have enough co2 for the plants good schooling fish are rummy nose, bueno aire tetra, glass catfish just an old picture, the 6ft is pretty empty now http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... p?t=202270
  8. you might say i have a few discus hehehe  co2 does help alot but its all about balance....my 6ft can grow very healthy plants with no co2, ferts and a crappy light, all about the balance Thank you for the comments each one of my tanks only last about 6-8months before i get bored and take everything out and start again, so i have played around with alot of different styles. as for the substrate, i find sand alot easier to grow plants than gravel A few variety of plants looks nice when it covers the tank rather than a messy look when each plant tries to outgrow each other. For fish i always liked big schools of the same species, looks fantastic when they do school together
  9. Lido has DIY coke bottle system, 3ft and 5ft has pressurized systems

Christmas came a day late with a arrive of another tank, this time i wanted a small planted tank for the bedroom i will let the pictures do most of the talking 26th dec - juwel lido 120 just after setup - DIY co2 didnt work with my diffuser so it was removed and replaced with a bell diffuser inside the filter 1 month after setup, algae growing nicely photos taken yesterday about 1 and a half months after setup
