  1. I dont think its a Lombardoi either Do you have a pic of both adults you have as Lombardoi?? Brad
  2. It will depend on the type of filter with the time it takes for the bacteria to die Canisters and sumps are the worst followed by hang ons and then internals and then sponges Brad
  3. It will depend on the dimensions of your tank Though you should be able to get away with 12 - 15 in a tank of 400litrs if it were a 4*2*2 But tell us the dimensions of the tank you have and the tank you will be getting How long b4 you will be getting the new tank? Brad
  4. What are the dimensions on your tank Not all 300 litre tanks are the same size and this can .limit your fish later Brad
  5. You have to remember the more the fish are the worth the harder its going to be to sell them I sell more Bristlenose then anything else and even though virtually everyone breeds them I still cant keep up with supply As for cichlids E Yellow are still the more favourite ones Brad
  6. A huge change in water temp affects some fish alot more the others Even though the fish you have started should be fine with it they still wouldnt like it What filtration do you have on that tank? A canister will have started to die and will cause an ammonia spike so keep an eye on it and do regular small water changes Brad

    KENYI WANTED

Just so you know all the females are blue Might be easier when ringing up asking places I have a few here but Im not much help to ya Brad
  8. Actually the Scientific name for these guys is Melanochromis joanjohnsonae http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=759 More commonly known as Exasperatus in Australia Brad
  9. The Sterbais will not like the warmer water I lost them all when I rose my discus tank to 30 so now it sits little lower and I dont keep corys in there I would try them on live food try some live Black worms I found this is the easiest when new discus come into the shop Brad
  10. Yes the yellow is alittle grubby Id say poor breeding so far But I have had a really bad yellow in the shop that bred and the fry were all a great colour Id say more then likely the fry you will get wont be much good but it isnt always the case Brad
  11. I would definalty be cleaning your filter alot more often Also it depends on where your fish are gasping whether its an oxygen problem or not Fish at the top of the tank yes thats generally right but if they are at the bottom of the tanks its more then likely an ammonia problem which is more likely with a clogged filter If you want to keep your tanks running at the best level then clean it along time b4 it nearly stops Brad
  12. Im not sure if its avail. but Seachem's Neutral Reg would be perfect for your situation Will solve your PH issues no worries at all Its a buffer to keep it at 7 and will either raise or lower your PH and keep it at 7 Brad
  13. BK The difference between the fish you have listed and GloDanios is that your fish was imported Legally Its hard to remove someones fish that was brought into the country legally They would have to prove that actual fish was imported illegally I guarantee you the importer knows exactly what fish he is allowed to bring in and what they arent And they would have known about the Glo Danios but they wouldnt admit it to them and lose the money they have just spent Im not blaming the breeders or the hobbyists Im blaming the Importer I have been assured Caryl that MAF do read these forums and the main reason that post was deleted was not to alarm MAF if they werent Glo Danios Brad
  14. Caryl There was no doubt about the legality of these fish The thread was deleted as to no arouse MAF suspicion The majority of fishkeepers wouldnt have known whether these fish are illegal or not though this doesnt mean they are exempt from the law There is no comparison between passengers and drug users or even fishkeepers Glofish are illegally exported out of Singapore If they arent on the import list in NZ then they are illegally imported too Brad
  15. Markoshark I was one of the people who repeatedly had some posts deleted because of my concerns of these fish People were worried about MAF finding out Even though they were always going to know about it Brad
  16. Why is everyone annoyed with MAF? The problem here lies with the importers They are the ones who deliberately broke the rules and imported the fish Everyone who bought them should have known what is going to happen if they were caught with these fish The importers are going to destroy the hobby for all you guys and still noone blames them How are they accidentally imported???? The Exporters knew they werent allowed to export them from Singapore The Importer knew they were illegal but still tried to bring them through Do we all blame the Police when someone gets caught with drugs that have been smuggled in because they werent caught doin it Or do we blame the dealer and then the user Everyone had a choice with buying the fish in the first place Brad
  17. What do you use to diffuse the Co2 warren? I have a small powerhead that totally dissolves the Co2 but when the bottle is turned off at night without the check valve it blows water back up the Co2 line I think it would depend on what people are using as a diffuser whether they require a check valve Brad
  18. Yes septicemia is rare though its consistent with the results we have had concerning the fish saprolegnia is a fungal infection which wont cause the streaking through the fins Either way we cant be totally sure what it was Brad
  19. I laughed at you? well I did but nothing to do with Cross breed or not I just dont see the Johanni in it Gee and you complain I dont listen to you Definalty not Interruptus or Johanni though Its just got more of an elongatus look to me still Most likely a Hybrid though Brad
  20. The above information was from http://www.angelfire.com/blues/fish_problems/HEMORHAGICSEPTICEMIA.html I know what you mean Bill I am the same as Frenchy just used to forums over here Where we are generally not allowed to link to external sites I just found that by cutting the information and googling it Brad
  21. Definalty not a Johanni Not sure exactly yet might have to do some research Looks elongatus to me but not sure Brad
  22. Yeah the problem looking at fish on slides is the fact they liquify very quickly after death Might be worth a look though I was also stumped on what to use on this problem though i couldnt answer b4 today I wouldnt have recommended Melafix even though its really good not going to be strong enough to treat this If you find its happening again maybe Furan2 but watch your dose rates as your fish didnt seem to like it this time also probably Prazi as well Brad
  23. Just to clear some things up Furan-2 uses nitrofurazone, furazolidone and methylene blue trihydrate These guys are antibacterial and can be used together with an anti-parasitic and anti-fungal medicines Flubendazole is a different treatment for Skin and Gill Flukes Brad
  24. I would use a Solenoid valve just for the ease of use That way you always know its turned off at night and you can use the timer on your lights Also your plants will do better with regular light times I first tried to remember to turn it off at night but forgot a few times I was lucky and didnt lose any fish but now I know its all good Brad
  25. Hey Mekhaela I think they were saying they added them to a tank already containing fryeri I agree with the Cobalt blue thinking though Brad By they way nice looking fish
