Any handy tips on speeding up fry growth rate?

Depend where you got the fish from. The water condition in everyone's tank is different. Therefore it may stress the new fish when you add them to the tank causing them to be weak and eventually the disease will set in.

Treat them with Furan2 and they'll be fine. What is the temp of the tank water? You are suppose to quarantine new fish for at least 2 weeks before you add them to you tank.

If you're feeding heaps and doing a lot of wc, the fish should be quite big at 8 weeks. Too many fish in a tank will slow the growth too.

I wouldn't worry about cleaning the tank if the frys are too tiny. Just changing half the water and replacing with same temp fresh water daily or at least every second day will get the frys growing very fast. You will also have to feed them live food at least 4 times a day in order to grow them fast.

If you want your discus to grow fast feed them with color bit and frozen food at least 4 times a day and change 25 percent water daily. Flake food is a waste of time.

Betta breath from the surface anyway :lol: A large jar will be fine provided the temperature is constant (25 deg ideal) without too much fluctuation and water quality is premium (daily waterchange or at least every second day).

Looking at the pic, there is nothing wrong with the discus. The colour is just how a discus with pigeon strain looks. Some of them have very nice black tail and some are just clear. Pigeon will always have the black dots or peppering especially when they are excited, in breeding mood, breeding, stressed and dark environment. To lessen the peppering you can paint all sides of the tank white and make sure the fish is not stressed.

If it's discus plague your discus will all be at a corner in the bottom of the tank. They will be all black and slimey and would be dead by now.

They shouldn't die even when the temp drop to 15 deg slowly. I would treat the growout with a full course of furan2.

1 dose of Era tablets and you'll come home to a cyno free tank.

You better cut down on feeding or you'll end up with a sick fighter.

Why not get a 2 metre tank custom made. It will be heaps cheaper and better.

Congrat on your achievement. This tank look heaps better then the original. Looks like the discus already settle in well and are not hiding. You'll have to come and plant my show tank when it's ready ron

Take it in to Hollywod Fish Farm. They have diaphram for most pumps.

They are quite rare and only small ones are available sometimes. Got some myself.
