  1. Do think it not wise to keep BN with axo's as if an axo gets ahold of one the spine ball the Bn have will pierce the skin and lodge itself in there .. try and get that out
  2. axo's go crazy over bloodworms .. an easy food to keep for them.. beats pellets etc.. need good filteration for them u/g + canisters heres a pic I posted before of a tank we set up for them my brother has morphed these guys into adults before and they are just amazing to look at ( but ssshhhhh !! thats a secret )........... 8)

    bracing

metal bacing isn't required on 4 tanks (unless 750-900 high.).. when dealing with large tanks we always had metal outer bracing with centre braces on anything from 6 ft to 2.7 mtr with heights of 650 - 750mm( one scary thing is after the tanks are filled ( 2 mtr plus ones) even with multi centre+rim/metal bracing there was always a slight bulging of the glass and slight gapping of the metal braces at the ends of the tanks .. never ran a straight edge over the front , but I bet some of you will after reading this post ... food for thought 8) 8) 8) .
  5. ummm ... looks like " Hypostimus Varimacolosus" or "Cochliodon Hondae" ... hard to tell as they look like baby sized... hope this helps 8)

    bracing

10mm glass still bows if only using mid brace for support , even in a 4ft tank. for a 6/10ft think of the loading on the top rim surround braces without a center.brace or two. .. see that most tanks 6-8 ft use two halide units .. whats the prob with one centre brace placed between the lighting .. "peace of mind tank keeping".. 8) ... no tank blowouts 5 years down the track :-? 8) ...working with aquatics have seen sum "lovely :-? " tank blow outs and can only say " didn't want to be infront when that went!! ... but we all have our own opinions
  7. Man tell me about it .. we have 20 mins hail, thunder , monssonal rain, ... then 10min sunshine , then repeat hail etc ,.... bizzare .. try having a cig at work and timing around all this ... ... imagine your a fish in a shallow pond ... lucky they don't suffer " brass monkeys"
  8. My brother and I ( cool grammer) set up a out door pond one summer had neons , bristlenose , serpaes , and tiger barbs .. was about 2 ft deep so temp down bottom didn't drop too much at night ... nothing beats sitting around it having a beer watching the fish "shine" in natural sunlight .. esp the neons .. during winter put inunga and yabbies in there .. was cooool 8)
  9. Are all these serpaes well fed ? ... or are the angels the typical agro type ( you bita my fin I bita your face ).. 8)
  10. How much is Ambulia or Polysperma over there ??
  11. most puffers( leopard/figure 8 & the morphs , red eye , don't even look at armoured catfish .. esp bristlenose so shouldn't have prob keeping the 2 together .. just give each sp a selection of hiding/retreat places ...i.e .. lots of wood , rockwork plants in the tank. A tank I had a few years ago had 3 spotted/leopard puffers about 2.5 " and half doz bristlenose half the size and no probs at all ... think the 8" archer kept the puffers from doin' "nasty" things 8)
  12. hey caper .. buy 3 odd ambulia or polysperma .. if you have good lighting you can easily start to propogate these plants to fill your tank
  13. worst toxic site .. in canada ????
  14. hey caper ... how much are 'otto's" in canook land  ....
  15. yeah , I know . .. finished work in the studio , now bumming around on this forum ... off in 1/2 hr due to normal work today (9am) ... 8)
  16. sounds like your fish are suffering from pofta-itis ... what is in the water up there ...and are the local guys acting the same?? .... but seriously throw some females in the tank, ratio... 3 fem / 1 male
  17. Believe me .. tetras are "sp" rascist , unless your a neon/cardinal or of the serpa sp... 8)
  18. unless you have pasty girlie "anglo saxon" skin  , then you shouldn't have a prob with salt .... or stings either..... 8)
  19. lol ... their eyes might "pop" out of the sockets but you might be sucessful! as they will be blind they wouldn't care who they schoool with but .. hmm ..... you will have to take the gamble .... 1(same species tetra schools ..6 minimum) 8) ... 2 (mixed ( lolly scramble) of blind multi coloured schooling tetras) ... take your pick...
  20. Come on Guys/Gals you all know about these snails surely  .. "yellow" coloured =( golden apple snail) = plant eater=(lawnmower).... "dark brown"= ( mystery snail)=(meat/muck scavenger) ( good community dudes) all lay eggs above water line ... pity people who have golden apple babies ( will replicate amazon forest defoliation)............. 8)
