  1. very nice u2. If only I could get a tank for each fish I want I'd have to have a house just for the aquariums.
  2. ooooooooooooooooooo nice. almost makes me want a pair, ALMOST.
  3. Actualy I have found that danios were bullies in my tank. they would run my guppies, bettas and any thing else ragged. in the end I took them n 2 the LFS (as they had been given to me by a friend switching to cold water tank) and got something else. I've never been able to keep neons alive and that's the only kind of tetra that's ever seen the inside of my tank.
  4. I don't know about betta's having probs with other fish but what I would suggest is have a breeding trap avalible, don't leave the betta to roam free at night, and observe, observe, observe. if you have even the slightest inclination that your betta is harasing other fish take it back. Of cource it would do to fined out if that is an option before purchasing. hope that helps a little anyways,
  5. Mine LOVE blood worms and beef heart tucker. They sorta give me this look when I drop in a cucumber or something like that. I wouldn't be supprized to one day see them throwing it out of the tank. My snail, however, loves the cucumber so the BN's will just have to put up with it. Then again I am the lady that has had bettas and guppies living in peace and harmony, untill the latest addition (different betta) the LFS has been quite taken aback by them getting on. This is the same LFS that has told me "if you feed to many microworms you'll steralize your fish" some how I dought that that's true, like so much other smoke that gets blown up your...... by the LFS
  6. I'm sure if anyone WANTED to they could it's just that no one has you'd have alot more locals buying off you to Shae. I keep forgetting how small Invercargill is untill I go to something like the Santa Parade this weekend just ending. Being from the States and use to large, rather profetional looking parades I was, shall we just say, less than impressed. However I suppose fish don't celibrate christmass so.....
  7. I could tell ya, but then I'd have to kill ya. Besides it would rob you of personal growth you wouldn't want me to do that would you?
  8. oh don't worry I am making a profit. my shipping costs are far less than you might expect. You learn a thing or two about what'll work and what wont when you're doing a few auctions (selling and buying). No I'm not giving the mail man a wink or anything just working out economics. if I can figure out how to package and ship something for very little then I can offer free postage. By doing that I can undercut everyone else!!! And you're still getting the exact same goods as you would from someone who hasn't figured out my little secret
  9. @ BlueandKim. hey I'm not like some people that think just because someone else has the same idea as I did that they have stolen something from me. I think there's plenty of room in the "market" for all who want to try there hand at anything. besides I ship free of cource I am getting rid of alot of other things not just fishy stuff. Hubby's convinced I'll be selling off the house next Happy holidays

    Killie eggs

ok see I was thinking it was a general fishy thing. I'm really not into killies, just the one type Chromaphyosemion Bitaeniatum. I'm really more fond of the bettas (which after atempt after atempt to breed I'm ready to strangel) or the guppies (which I wish would STOP breeding) or the cichlids (which I wish would breed again). Is there a NZCA (cichlid group)?

    Killie eggs

ok so from what I've seen the NZKA IS only for killies, is that right?
  12. alanmin4304 albinos are a rarity and, as with anything, rarity usually means sought after. Personaly I'm not into albino anything but thank (insert whatever being you wish) we're not all the same eah?

I said "N O T just killies then" I told you Pene I only like the one speicies of those You're right I do like the cichlids and still intend on stocking my 3 footer w/them.

    killies

it is really abit poor that our lfs won't bring down killies. Stu has had some on trademe that I would dearly love to have but apperently the way theise type spawn it's hard to fined the eggs??? To bad to I've got a 3 footer sitting with just plants at the moment. a friend of ours is building me a tank stand at cost!!!! Then I'll be able to lock the kids out of my fishy stuff.
  17. you've got to be joking? that's the biggest load I've ever heard. I've had 5 different males now in with guppies, agassizi's, albino and peperd cory's, B/N's, GBA's, and blue steel apostogram's and the only thing any of them ever hasteld was the recent purchase of black taild male guppies. I've never kept discus, and at those prices, that wont be changing anytime soon. If you're serous about it and no one here has atempted it before best advice I'd give would be make sure you have a breeding trap, don't let the betta roam freely at night (that's when my black guppie got munched), and observe, observe, observe. also make sure that your LFS is happy to take back the betta if you run into problems in your first week. just some suggestions, hope it helps.
  18. I've seen her male and that pic very much looks like him. I guess albinos must be fussy breeders from the sounds of it.

    dwarf cichlids

I've gotta 1 apple snail, 1 male agassizi, 2 fem's, 1 male betta, 3 fems, 3 albino cory's, 3 comon b/ns, 1 gba, 4 pepper cory's, 1 male guppie and 4 fem's in my 2 footer. I notice some of the females get abit toe from time to time but rarely does the male go after anything. I've had more of a problem with my latest male betta munching one of the 2 half black male guppies in half (he died). I did have 2 blue steel males, Shae could tell you what exactly they were, and they hasteld everything in the 3 footer. I got rid of one when I had to transfer them n2 the 2 footer. As far as breeding goes I picked up my new male agissizi on a thursday, friday I had eggs (that's when I had to strip the 3 footer...3 year old boy tried to "feed the fishys") I haven't had eggs since but it's only been a week or so. I havent kept any of the other dwarfs but intend to at some point.
  20. http://photobucket.com/albums/c360/MRSkz/?action=view&current=12005_1030_122529AA.jpg that's what my fighter looks like. he's white, bluey purpley, and maroon. he's gorgoues
  21. I was just baffeld as I said I've not had a problem with other colors in with the bettas. since this morning my more seriouse munched male died. as I said before though I was supprized to fined him alive in the first place. will look at replacing him, if able, tomorow.
  22. I just right clicked and hit "view image". it did take awhile but lovely fish. discus scare me ($$ and being so touchy) but I do enjoy looking at other peoples.
  23. I've had my male in my 15lt tank with my females for a week of unsuccessfull breeding so I decided to return them to the 2 footer to recoperate. needing the 15lt for something else I also placed my male into the little isolation cup that hangs on the side (holds about 1 and 1/2 lts). I also, recently, went out and bought myself 2, 1/2 male guppies. now never having a problem before with tail munching from bettas I decided there was enough cover for the females and let the male out (not liking to keep him n the cup for very long). I left him out overnight and awoke to fined my 1/2 black male with the bigger tail chewd almost in half (quite literaly no tail at all). I was very suprized he was still alive even happy looking. My other male has also had his tail shreded but he still HAS a tail. I have put the 2 males n the cup, added malefix, salt and a sprinkling of Ganoderma plus alot of hope. I have only thought about it since this has happend but I have never had any black taild guppies in with my bettas, they had died before I got my 1st betta. I was wondering if other people have had problems with bettas attacking just the 1/2 blacks or if they have munched orange, yellows and other colors aswell. Funnily enough the male betta was fine with the 1/2 blacks while the tank lights were on.
  24. http://www.artemiaworld.com/ does actualy work just not with the--->> tag attached to it and that's all I'm saying on this subject.
  25. Hey Mystic I've striped down my 3 footer adding malawi mbuna cichlids and want to use sand instead or ontop of the gravel that's there (haven't removed it just yet otherwise tank's empty) what do ya recon? will the mbuna's reak havic w/the sand? I'm opting for the "small peacefull" one's mined you. ty, Me
