    calcite

just a thought but it is also considerd a crystal used for clensing energys and such. Probably more valuable in the "new age" market than for the bottom of a tank?

    What is he?

As I said I don't know nothin about identifying catfish. I do know, however, what I like and that fish I like. I must remember to ask my LFS if they have any on the list and if they might get one and how much. Do they go well in cichlid tanks?

    What is he?

ok I admit I don't know much about cat fish, especaily Pelcos but looking at the "face" of your fish and the faces of the other 2 "possibles" I'd say there is to much black on the face of the L52. But that's just my oppinion.
  6. I've thought about getting Kenyi myself but having blue zebras I wonderd if they would cross so have stayed away from that myself.

    What is he?

What a lovely fish. You mined me askin what the going rate on somethin like that is?
  8. fishboi if that's your fish WOW!! would almost make me want to try keeping them (males seem to die after 3-5 months) again.
  9. can they actualy be called "albinos" when they don't have the red eyes?
  10. ohhhhhhh of course I shoulda caught that. Thanks
  11. what are they and what do they look like? I have googled them w/ no results
  12. I was wondering, with all this talk of MDF stands. I had a friend of ours make me one for my 3 footer (90x45x45aprox) This has no bracing down the middle, however it is all supported by a steal frame like a table with out a top with six, instead of four, legs (2 in the middle front and back). Will this be ok or not? I curently have my 3 footer filled, with my precious malawi's zipping around in it.
  13. wicked piece of wood. love something like that in one of my tanks but ph seems to be a problem even without wood so....
  14. love the photos frenchy, I'd love to transplant that tank w/fish, into my house (after re-enforcing the floor)
  15. You know what I fined funny here. They seem to let in cold water fish that are not natives but yet can survive in the wild here. Yet some of the warm water fish that people would like that can't survive in the wild they don't allow??? Really messed up. As far as plants go hey I don't have any problems with them checking any of the 3 plants I have (ok maybe 4 including duckweed lol).
  16. HELP I have some lovely "blue zebras" and "electric yellows" in my tank. I belive I've tracked the right scientific name for the yellows no worries. However I'm having a bit of difficulty with the blues. I've taken a few pics (dozens...digital cammera ) and am posting the best one's. Now the males seem to have a "yellow tint" to them and the females seem darker. They all do have stripes that are just visable, not standing out or anything. Anyways here are the pics if anyone has the answers I'd sure love to know. Thanks,
  17. I'm sorry I'm a bit lost here. I didn't even know there was such a fish before I red this. Not being originaly from NZ I guess is partialy an excuse and I've only been keeping fish for a year now so... Now what exactly is wrong with these fish? I've googled them and they look much like female guppies to me, well very plain fem guppies. It does seem very odd that a LFS wouldn't know what fish they can and can't sell. Wonder who messed up.
  18. really nice tank and xcelent photo.
  19. Hey nice fish there. I saw you had them in with the mbuna's? I'm sure I read somewhere not to have them together because of different foods/water peramiters, ect..? I'm just asking because they look great and might like to throw some, if we have them down her, in my mbuna tank.
  20. I've only got one thing to say to that "how rude!!"
  21. I admit I haven't had fish shipped much at all and when I have I have made sure the courier company knows they are coming, it's on a day when I am off and now I also tell them "don't deliver I'll pick up". I just don't like the idea of live fish bouncing around the back of a courier van for who knows how long. I have to say that the fish I've had dropped at the door (quite literaly) and the fish I have picked up are like night and day. The one's that have been picked up seemed to have faired better. However they all did survive.
  22. oooooooooo Mystic, now when did you say you'd give/sell me that tank? lol I call my 4ft (200and a bit lt) my "big" tank. I'm afraid the floor would probably colaps if I managed to fit one of those threw the door, w/out hubby's knowledge.
