wow you've really got you're hands full there. congrats.

righty o I've managed to "evict" the cichlid babies from the little 19lt tank (moved them n2 the 2 footer n a breeding net w/the older cichlid babies) I left the water that was there in the tank (probably 10 lts or so) then put enough peat in to cover the bottom. I waited for 2 days for most of it to settle, scooped off some of the floaty stuff and now have 1 male and 2 females in that tank. Gave them a small feed of white worms hopefully my chances of success are reasonable (just hoping not to kill the adults). I'm not running any filtration on the tank but have verious options if need be.

hmm interesting. Suppose I have super guppies or defecitve killies. The killies I was given, by a friend that was leaving town, are in with guppies, platties, swords, danios, apistogramas, blue rams, a red tailed shark, cories, bristle noses and I think that's it. I've seen the killies breeding very happily and the cories and other bottom dwellers enjoying munching on the eggs. I must see about moving the killies so the can breed, at least once, without loosing the eggs.

KA, wow!! That seems like alot of work. I'm sure you get tones of enjoyment out of it though. I thought having to strip down a 4 foot tank to catch holding females was hard. You go girl!!! I'd love links to pics of the lines you're describing as my knowledge of the different strains you're talking about is pretty non exsistant. Keep up the hard work.

Love the body of the fish, don't really like the color but I'm more of a blues/white/pink sorta girl anyways. One of the pictures with the red eyes reminded me of a fly and I hate flys. Sorry all. As I said, however, the body, shape and look, bar color, of the fish is lovely.

So I understand cory's have never shown any signs of agresion? I was told by the LFS owner that if I added smaller cory's (some pandas I got) in to the comunity tank where I have a trio of albinos (adults) that the albinos would kill the smaller ones I thought, better safe than sorry, and put the pandas into my baby tank. I'd love to place them in the comunity tank but don't want them becoming fishbait.

hey thanks for that. I've been looking and I think they have already reproduced. I'm sure there was only one male and a few females when I got them a little while ago. Now there are 3 males and probably 8 or more females. I'll keep an eye on them to see if they increase in numbers. I thought that the eggs had to come out, be dried for abit then rehydrated. Can you hatch eggs after they have been stored for over a year? Got some eggs from someone that was moving, along with the fish, and was wondering if it's actualy doable to hatch them.

so you have all this on one tank? What size? I've got a 4 footer w/E.yellows in it and blue zebras but seriously reconsidering the blue zebras as they seem to be able to breed with everything under the sun. Pm me with prices and we'll see what we can work out k?

Ok so I "inherited" some lovely killies a little while ago. They are Nothobranchius Korthausae Yellow and they look like they are trying to get up to some mischife. It looks as if the males are trying to "wrap" the females. So I assume this is breeding behavior. They are in a comunity tank and my question is, what do I do now? I wouldn't mined breeding these as they are a nice addition to my comunity tank and I only have the two males. All suggestions welcomed.

so, JoandWilly, how many did you say you've got forsale?
-
A little off topic here, sorry, but I thought bumble bees, kenyi and ice blue zebs would all cross breed? I'd love to know if that's not the case cuz I'd be looking at doing some revamping of my cichlid tank.

In my malawi tank (has been the 3 footer as they seemed to be more compfortable in there but now have made them adapt to the 4 footer) I have had 6 blue zebras (one just died so now it's 5) 6 electric yellows, 3 adult B/N's and have had everyone happily breeding and doing there thing. I have lots of hiding places and an internal filter of 1000lt ph. I have since added my 4 albino kribs to this mix, removed the B/N's (but they are going back as the glass has started to get a lovely greenish color sitting in front of the window) as the kribs have gotten to agro for my comunity tank. I am thinking about changing it though, not the numbers just a different Ps (instead of the zebras) I don't like them interbreed. I have only added the kribs yesterday but it does seem to have drawn out the other one's, kept them from being quite so shy.
-
I rekin he'll be fine. I ended up discovering I had 3 blue zebra males instead of 2 (w/my 3 females) and they were beating up the smallest of the females. So while we were away for a week I put the bad boys in the 2 footer so the electric yellows and the blue zebra fem's could have some peace. Well I came home to one male almost without a tale fins shreaded and some scales missing. With the exception of the lip he looked much very similar to the state of you'rs, but with far less tail. He's happily recovering, by himself, in the 2 footer. He'll be up for sale/swap once in a couple of weeks.

I don't know anything about the pulchers but the apisto and the cockatoo should be right. I have, in my 3 foot 2 pairs of kribs, a (fingers crossed) breeding trio of apostos and a lone surviving male cockatoo (belive it's a male, had a mate but mysteriously died) and they all live fine with the red tailed shark, cory's, GBA's, swords, guppies, killies, a pair of moonlight gouramis, a pair of dwarf gouramis and one or two other inherited fish.
-
Ok I just "inherited" some more fish Now I know what everything I got was except the cat fish. They look like B/N's (small though) but when I got them by the tail to have a good look at them they didn't have any "spines" out the side of the "mouth". So no prikely bits. I know that whenever I get hold of my B/N's or GBA's they put them "spiney" bits out almost first thing. Sorry no pics just hoping someone would have an idea.

Personaly I'm a fan of the Apistogramma agassizi http://www.aquariofilia.online.pt/peixe ... assizi.jpg I think they are lovely and the females are very gracefull. Personaly I'd throw in a trio of them, probably a pair of blue rams and maybe a pair of kribs (but the kribs do get bigger and can be rather teritorial so.....) But that would be me. Curently I've got, in my 4 footer 1 trio of Apistogramma agassizis, 2 pairs of albino kribs and 1 cockato (surviving one from a batch of 4 I got) along with cory's, guppies, platties, GBA's, danios, 2 moonlight gouramis and 2 burnt orange dwarf gouramis. Oh yes let's not forget the albino red tailed shark that's in there.
-
Apistogramma agassizis are nice, they stay smaller (they are dwarfs) and breed in harems. The females move very gracefully and have reasonable colorations. Also blue rams would be nice, they stay small and I think they breed in pairs. you could probably get away with both in 100LT tank (assuming it's about 3 foot long?) Just my 2c

Wicked Keri glad to see you got a male that knows his job (think I'll just leave that open ended )
-
congrats!!! both my females I kept have since died.

I get all my rocks from my "Southland Sand and Gravel" and I've managed to get a shopping bag full for only a buck or two. I never boil either, just give them a wash and in they go. Haven't had any problems yet.
-
That was my thought, blue, about not siliconing. I know when I have to try and catch any of my cichlids I have to start by taking out most of the rocks then I'm able to get the ones I want.
-
me 2. I have one electric yellow baby that has a bent spine and if I could catch the darn thing it'd see the inside of my freezer asap. What's interesting to note is that in a lot of fish I just got, not cichlids, there's an "adult" with a bent spine a n d there's a few babies with bent spines. Really keeping deformitys only promotes them, IMHO.

1 of my 2 fems has also went to that great aquerium in the sky

Hey thanks for that. That's what mine looks like, the steal bits. It does have MDF for the rest of it though. However I also have a piece of MDF (not painted or anything) that the tank sits on and then that sits on the top of the tank stand. That's what I use instead of poly. That's what was used by the people that had the tank before me to sit it on to so....
