Actually it increases the light by producing glitter lines. eric bournmane talks about it in one of his books. I have a movie, just have to upload it sometime

    Nice tank set up

Giving them space is also a big factor . Me and most of us have to many corals in our tanks which stops growth

Thats true, you still need stream etc to move water. I am hoping to get a sample soon. i think it is still in testing
  10. Supa dupa thread thread Layton, Yes eddy was a character. Cant also believe it has been 3 years. I can only go back about 12 years. Mike For oceanic images imported for about 5 years and used to be one of the first guys who could keep acro alive for 3 weeks during the quarantine period. We used to rush to the shops and wait around for a hour just to get some. They lasted 2 seconds once out of the bags. when i started 12 years ago everyone used to use wetdry filters and berlin skimmers as that is all they really had at that time. Would be great to find peopel who can go back further in Auckland, I will ask Dave at hollywoods as he has been in the game a long time. I will later pick up later from about 10 years ago or longer(how time goes) when the hobby had the biggest change in Auckland with the German ideas i had, like everyone used to laugh about it when i told them they did not need a wetdry filter, and questioned me about the big skimmer i had.

  16. If it is has a really big reflector then it shoud be ok, as bigger reflectors most likly put out less light over a larger area. do you have a pic?

    Ballasts

depends what the lighst are used for. Many hobbyist are starting to use t5s which are electronic.
  23. You won’t grow much with that light. I stated of with 2x54w & 2x39w t5s on a 4ft tank and changed to 150w metal halide. After a week the growth was amazing. Just shows that good lighting makes a big difference.
  24. Mainly marines and specialised dry goods.
  25. it cost more than $150. you have all the other cost like inspection fee at $100 p/h. audit which can be over $1000, etc There are many other things Erma look at other than if they survive in nz, like disease they carry. Apparently Corys /barbs carry some sort of disease.
