Bit annoying skuzza, as I wanted to have the biggest skimmer. Might have to upgrade to a ap1006 with 8 pumps. Could be divorce time. Maybe a good thing to upgrade the wife at the same time
  3. maybe i want to sell more salt.
  4. Let me know when you can show us the benefits .
  5. Life is really funny, This is my post about a year ago and some people shot me down for saying that NSW can cause problems and accusing me of saying it to sell salt, Looks like the luck it running out for some. cant wait to get on the coral/fish pricing debate again, Looks like the Chickens have come home to roost

You could wait for a month and then try another leather. hopefully by this time what every it is has left the system. I dont think the bio digest would cause the problem as i think you had the problem before you started dosing it. Just maybe you need more current for the leathers, you have a big tank and leathers love current as it removes the slim coat which will rot the leather if they dont remove it. Have you tries putting a leather near the stream to see how it goes..

Tank is looking really nice Fay. You could have got a bactaria problem from using NSW . I have seen the same problem in a few tanks using NSW. NSW is loaded with bactaria which seem to effect leathers and mushrooms. How much water movement do you have??

  11. lets move on guys. Lets just talk about my new reef tank (i wish)
  12. Yes i will post some pics when it starts to skim. if youy like i can post some pics now of it skimmiing nothing. i am waiting for optimal performance. maybe there is nothing to skim as the second skimmer i put in is not skimming much. I thought that would be pretty obvious that you had to adjust the airflow. for optimal skimming , the same goes for any skimmer. Airflow to water ratio has to be balanced so you get smaller bubbles and better skimming.

    Reefs Reef Tank

I was using zeolites both times. Been using prodibio for 6 months or so, i noticed my tank was getting cleaner as i was getting less diatoms on the sand and glass. Been also dosing vodka but know changed to activ bak by aqualight,. I dose some amino acids and reef solution which is a muti vitamin and contains iron Food comsuption is very high as tank has about 60 fish. does create a problem as getting po4 down is not easy. Combo Check out this tank as he also uses prodibio. http://www.hausriff.ch/4534/108355.html

    Reefs Reef Tank

combo wrote Sorry for the last reply. i dose biodigest every two weeks and add reef booster weekly. I also add tunze zeolite. the prodibio seems to work well as my water looks clean and coral colours look ok the reef booster is great as the goniporas asre doing well and the acropora do open well when i feed it. also rare in NZ. but the reef booster (coral food) is quite popular. i note that you had stn when using zeovite, did you try it without the zeolite??
  16. They say 6-8 weeks, it really depends on your tank load. You have to becareful as too much and you will strip out too much which will cause problem. its a bit like carbon. Just add it slowly over a few days. You could add a bactaria source which will help with high tank bioloads.

    Skimmer test

The quote I made was written incorrectly as I was meant to say I don’t sell things for the sake of it to make money. I aim to only sell quality products, you don’t see me selling cheap stuff to make a buck. Hobbyist don’t understand the difference between gross profit and net profit. They are vastly different. Net profit allows for expenses and interest. Sure you purchased the skimmer at a cheap price but Exchange rates have changed quite a lot in the last 3 months (about $400), which you have not even taken, into account. Then there is also GST to pay on the final sale price and various other charges. For example air freight is a killer when doing it in bulk as you got so many additional charges it is hard to keep up vs a few items through the post office. What about warranty?? For example i had to get a new pump for a Deltec as it was faulty?? so who pays for this? replacement pumps dont arrive with fresh air. I stated the thread to test a Beckett skimmer and can’t see were i bagged the Beckett, all I stated was that the bubble size was larger and testing was in early stage. I even did not mention Deltec . The whole post has turned to custard again due to ill informed hobbyist, why don’t you focus your energy in doing something useful like stopping the quarantine period for marines increasing to 4 weeks or try to get fish medication approved. The last maf project turned to crap, as all the moaners again did nothing to improve the allowable list. Some people have spent weeks on this project for no gain. Who pays for this?? Who pays for the, ink, paper, toll call etc??? As usual it is always left to a select few who want to make a difference. Actually I would challenge the moaners to actually list something they have done to improve the hobby? What ever i write will go in one ear and out the next. so it is a waste of time me writing this response. But I wrote it anyway.
  18. Who is the distributor of it? If it comes from the place in ellerslie it is calcite.
  19. the coral sand is nice, get the 1-2mm. No one sells Aragonite. thye might call it Aragonite but it is not.
