Thought i start it again as the thread was ruined by some losers. So far day 5 small bit of skimming. also added a Small deltec to see how it skims Bubble size in the beckett still quite large compared to the Deltec.

It was not a beckett, used a mazzi venturi, And for rubbishing a beckett skimmer?? Where did I say this? ?? I even mentioned that it was too soon to tell as the skimmer needs time to run in. but you cant mistake the bubble size as they are quiet large compared to a needle wheel skimmer. Maybe a bigger pump is required.?

try putting a sponge on the pump inlet.

My point is I don’t have to do any of this crap. I do it to promote the hobby with quality equipment, I got better things to with my life then listen to people who do nothing for the hobby and then accuse me of rubbishing a skimmer to promote my own. Even if i put a deltec in tonight and show photos i will be accused of doing something to the Beckett to stop it from working.

You are on the money. i only sell the best and dont sell things like some to make money. i sell because i want hobbyist to have the best equipment available. AND my tank is proof that i know what i am talking about. If becketts are so good then i would have had one 5 years ago.

Let me translate for you from the man himself STEVE WEAST who does not sell any skimmer. not being skeptical Brian but how many quality skimmers have you used. Deltec is not for everyone due to the price. just the same as a Porsche. As i mentioned it is too soon to tell as the beckett needs more time, but so far the results as poor. I can see how i can get the bubble size smaller to get a nice foam. I am running a 3600l/h pump, well above what is recommended.

About the price of a porsche. you pay for what you get. nothing is free in life.

I will donate $1000 if they are better than a Deltec Going by the test the beckett skimmer is pretty average compared to a needle wheel skimmer. Beckett skimmers just dont produce small bubbles, it is all hype that they are better and mostly said by people who have not used a quality needle wheel skimmer.

Testing out a new beckett skimmer as was interested to see if the hype match the performance . The quality of the skimmer is excellent but So far 4 days of skimming has produced little. still soon as it can take a few weeks to build up the slim coat inside the skimmer, One thing i noticed about the beckett skimmer is that the bubble side is large and nowhere as small as a needle wheel skimmer. I was lucky enough last night to witness Acropora spawning at 2am. Photos are not the best as it was with no lights on. The tank was covered in eggs. Pretty amazing, tank must be doing ok as my clams did the same thing a few months ago. This time i got it on video camera.
