  1. How's the eel? Were you able to get him to eat? Caper
  2. Awesome videos! Mystic when I first watched the first one you posted I thought, breeding, heck the aros eating little fishies  It wasn't till I watched the next one that I caught on...duh Wow, David, you weren't kidding when you said then can jump much higher than I was thinking! Caper
  3. The new pet store actually has frozen food, YAH! Just to let you know what I presently feed my fish: goldies - flakes, once a week peas; tiger barbs and red eye tetras - flakes, tried peas but weren't overly interested although may try again (looks like one barb is having a little trouble going down to bottom of tank); cory's - shrimp pellets, occasionally flakes. The frozen shrimp are in small cubes and the guy at the pet store said to use 1/2 of the cube and to put it in a shot glass of water till it softened then put it in the tank. I just went and measured them the cube is approximately 1cm x 1cm. Since I never had the opportunity before to use this product, do I follow his instructions? The 1/2 cube I think he was talking about feeding the barbs and tetras. What about the goldies and cory's?? When I first had fish I tried dried brine shrimp, I think that's what they were called. None of my fish were interested a that time with that kind. Caper
  4. Oh whetu, what an experience you and your fishies had, sorry for your losses    Now that's a tough promise, I know I couldn't do it   Caper
  5. Learn something new everyday, gee Owen I didn't know that danios were fin nippers. I always thought they were, more often than not, a peaceful fish. Caper
  6. I'm not into breeding any type of fish but I thought I've read here that some people use a plastic lid, correct me if I'm wrong please! Caper
  7. I agree with lmsmith that keeping him in the bag is not a good idea. I have a breeding trap (not that I breed fish) and kept a sick fishy in there one time, one thing cured, while I think the stress eventually led to fin rot, if I recall correctly. What about trying the bucket or another container or a divider like suggested by others? Do you know of anyone who could give you a loan of a small tank??? Is he eating? I know you are trying your best to help him Caper
  8. Darn, when I try to submit I get a general error and everything is wiped out. I'm trying to attach pics of my livingroom to see if anyone can suggest how/where I can put my tank. Is it the pics???? Anyway, they have Fluval 305, 300L, 70 gallon, 1000 L/H, 260 gph (is that gallons per hour  ). No eheims, they did have something called Aqua??? but I can't remember I"ll check the next time I'm there but I thought they were hang on the back type. They also have Fluval 405 for 100 gallons and Fluval FX, I didn't write down the stuff for these as I think FX is out of my league money wise and size wise. However, I was wondering about the 405????? I just read another post where Zev talked about a SQL error that's what happening when I try to post pics of livingroom. There are 5 pics is that why I can't post them????? Caper
  9. That is cute :bounce: Congratulations on your determination paying off for you Caper
  10. I LOVE corn on the cob. Unfortunately it would be waste of time for me to try and feed my fish since I don't leave a nibble on the cob, I eat every single last one 8) Caper
  11. How's our angel fish doing? What did you eventually do for him/her? Caper

  14. Hi & welcome! This is great site, people are fantastic to help and you can surely count a smile and laugh too What kind of fishies will or do you have? What size tank? Love your signature by the way...glad you accept that...  Take care & have fun, Caper
  15. Sam is still sitting on the bottom of the tank, not all the time but more than I recall him ever doing before. Monday when I went to feed them their peas, the way he swam up I was able to see the bottom of him. It looked, well the best way I can describe it, like he had skinned the bottom of himself. There were a few red marks, almost like when a person skins his/her knee plus one red spot near the bottom of his gill. I didn't even think to test the water I just immediately did a water change. The next day a large water change plus the tank/filter cleaning that I normally do once a month but when I was working at 2 jobs didn't get it done. Anyway, when I went to do the big clean and water change you could already see the redness going. Yesterday, Wednesday no red areas at all. But, he's still occassionally doing the "sit on the bottom". Any ideas? Thanks, Caper

  21. I think the peas did the trick. I noticed a piece of poop in the top of the tank today, suspecting that was what was going on. Haven't noticed the sitting on the bottom so far today, but we shall see. Thanks Caryl, Caper
