  1. I have 3, bought new guy Thursday! Anyway, I find that they like to "hang" out at the back of the tank near the top. Is this normal for these tetras? Although, I put more artificial plants in my tank and lately they seem to be moving down and around more. Sorry guys, all I have is artificial plants...really, really scared to try the real thing. The other day Walmart had some plants in, first time I saw them.

  4. Gizmo...so sad to hear about Rupert...but you know, taking him to the vet and having him "go to sleep" shows just how much you loved your fishy...with so many people being cruel to their "beloved" pets with starving them, beating them and such...I congratulate you on taking the best care you could of Rupert
  5. Yep Tanksman I do believe the Melafix helped. His fins are looking good. How's our barbs doing?

  12. Sorry about your fishy...perphaps some regular, small water changes could help?
  13. A couple of my guppies tails look like they are getting nipped. I don't think its fin rot as they don't appear to be white or anything. I have a platy, mollies, guppies, neons, red eye tetras, pleco, WCMM...any suggestions on who the culprit may be? I love watching my fishies but never notice anything going on I'm trying to remember if Ihad this problem before I added a white molly...but, can't remember :-? I don't want to add Melafix, as I don't want to use it if its not necessary...but should I to help their fins heal???? On a much sadder note ...I lost my sailfin molly. Real mystery, everything was fine...then it's almost like it just disappeared. If something happened and the other fishies ate him...they sure did it fast!
  14. I love those technical terms Caryl   My lids are the black plastic kind...is there anything that will remove the calcium?
  15. Thanks all What are bunnings? I do have a timer for the lights. I may have to move this tank downstairs when summer comes. Any suggestions on how I can keep the temp down in this tank? Last year it was ice in bags, fans...anything I can do on a more permanent CHEAP basis? Eventually I want to get them at least a 29 gallon tank...but right now I have to watch my money

  19. Just before Christmas I moved my 10 gallon tank upstairs. Now, I don't keep the heat turned on up here, it is always warm...well, at least this winter is was. But once the lights are on in the tank, it gets too warm and I have to put the fan on. There are 2 incadescent lights in this tank...I was wondering, could I just loosen one of them enough to turn the light out? Since I don't have any real plants that depend on the light. I thought maybe this would maybe help keep the temp down, what do you think? I don't imagine I could take the bulb out completely could I, I would think that doing that could that be a risk of getting water in the outlet?
