    Tiger barbs!

What else is in the tank Lyndyloo? Are red eye tetras considered a slow moving fish??????

    Tiger barbs!

Getting nervous...from what I read, I knew they were fin nippers, but I must have misunderstood because I thought they were only a "threat" to fishies with long fins. I didn't realize that they were considered agressive. Now, I there is one thing I've learned is that some fishies behavior isn't always what its supposed to be, meaning that sometimes fish that are labelled agressive, some have had experience that there not & vice versa if you know what I mean :-? Sooooo, do you think that they will be ok with my red eyes?
  12. Sorry to hear about your molly...I lost my sailfin not too long ago
  13. Smart little fellow! I thought you couldn't put sharks in with guppies, have you had them together for awhile?

    Tiger barbs!

Okie dokie...I'm getting the feeling that its best NOT to put other fishies in with them. But what about my red eye tetras? I mean I alread took them out of the other tank because of my guppies, do you think the red eyes will be ok? I'm still reading up on them but getting a little confused *now there's a surprise :-? *. Beside the tiger barbs there are other kinds as well, rosy, tinfoil...what else, aren't there green ones too?

    Who is nipping?

Thanks MRSkz OH MY GOSH That's scary and amazing at the same time... when I got home from work...I didn't even ask my son what he did with him, I didn't want to know...although, I know he didn't go down the "drain".
  16. I love tangs...too bad they don't come for freshwater A couple of new kids around...took them in to show them my fishies, the first thing the little boy said was "do have Nemo"

    Tiger barbs!

I did read that somewhere Jude. So far they seem to be doing well with the red eyes, haven't noticed any aggressive behavior thus far. Although, I have learned that fish are sometimes like babies when you're telling someone they can do this or do that, that's the time they won't! My poor sailfin molly that I had, when I got him the lady at the store said that he'd be aggressive, but he never was! But yet, the first time I had a "regular" mollies, they told me they wouldn't be aggressive & they turned out to be the fish from H*LL  I love all the fishies that I have...but would like to try something different if possible that is why I asking about gouramis. How many do you have Jude?
  18. Ditto to what was said above...small containers are NOT the way to go! Before I had fish and came here...a grocery store was selling them in small square shaped glass containers. Even then I didn't think it seemed to be right, just a feeling seeing these beautiful fishies in the small containers. But, how many people wouldn't know the difference, I mean for me it was just a "feeling" that I had but I bet many wouldn't know. It is really sad and since we don't have any major pet stores here, only Walmart and a small "pet" store...and lots of people don't have the net...so, really how would a person know the difference!

    Tiger barbs!

I bought 5 of them for my new tank...I just love them :bounce: :bounce: Now I did read up on them, actually I still am but I wanted to check with the wise fishy people here, is there anything I should know about them? I know they are fin nippers. Right now, all I have in with them is my 3 red eye tetras. Keeping in mind this is only a 29 gallon (110L) tank, what else can I put in there. I know I can put mollies, platies...don't have much to choose from here. One place I read on the net said you could put gouramis in with them & the red eyes...another place, no. I would like to get something different if I can but not if the poor fishies are going to get nipped! Thanks all wise fishy people :bounce: :bounce:
  20. Somewhere in here, there is a post & it talks about using the deworming stuff for cats, I believe...but someone else will verify this for you...good luck!
  21. Craig aside from seeing the flukes under a microscope...how did you know it was flukes? I thought I read somewhere on the net that you could see them with naked eye, is this true?

    Whisper filter?

Thanks all Ummm...brain dead tonight...I've only had the tank for 2 weeks and I did replace the carbon and the white filter...hmmm I think I did that the night I got it and cleaned the filter itself it was quite scummy! The noise isn't a rattly sound...its more like a....loud whisper :-? So you're not using carbon then? What do you mean by "normal filter foam"? In regard to the control valve, if that's what you call it. How do I know if its...oh, how to describe...in the right place? Can you tell an impeller is bad just by looking at it? Also, as long as the water is running down the proper way (the 2 sides), does it matter that its going down the intake valve too?
  23. Awesome pics Cracker...congrats

    Who is nipping?

Thanks all for your kind words I used to watch him in awe when he'd move, he was so graceful...except when he needed to be caught. Yes, I think the stress may have been too much for him. The people that I got him from (the people that I bought the tank from) the first thing they said when they saw my tank was "is your water ever clear". I knew he wasn't up to snuff, and it may sound terrible but if I had to euthanize him, I don't know what I would have done with him being so big. As it was, for the first time I had to kill one of my guppies, he was really weak and not getting better. So I took him out and fast cut with the knife...it was awful, but I sure hope he didn't suffer as he wasn't moving at all.
  25. Good Zev...maybe I'll have won the lottery by then & get to visit
