  1. I have one male and four female siamese fighters in a four foot tank with two angels, two golden gouramis, two blue gouramis, 4 butterfly rams, 8 serpae tetras, one bristlenose and two ottos. And I don't have any probs. I think cos of the tank size and that I have lots of plants for fish to hide each species seems to stick to its own. Every now and then someone will get chased a bit or nipped a little, but I think this would be normal in any tank, mostly they live in harmony. Everyone has different experiences though, I've heard various things about serpae tetras getting nasty and angels being dominant, but it would depend on the circumstances I think. all the best with your fighter if you get one, they are a beautiful fish and I have found most of them will come out to see you. I used to have one that I used to stroke on the back once, very friendly.
  2. lego crocodile or aligator
  3. I think I have read before that epsom salts can help, does anyone else agree with this?
  4. Are they going black, like black with blackbeard algae, which looks like black hair, or is it something else.
  5. knife whips or chains
  6. Welcome Ketan Enjoy the forum
  7. I have a bn and also just bought some Ottos, otoclincus is there proper name I think, they are doing a good job on my brown algae. They too are only smaller fish like a BN I was told they get to around the same size.
  8. I've had neons and cardinals together and they all swam around together in one school.
  9. Oh so now you have extra holes in the wall DiverJohn?
  10. i agree snookie, better to be safe than fry your fries!!
  11. I'm in agreement with doing nothing for 2-3 weeks to see what happens. It maybe that the particles need to get bigger for the filter to filter them out, if that makes sense, so by leaving it this will hopefully happen on its own, it may get a bit worse before it gets better if this is the case too. I had this happen in a small tank on and off for a few months I used 2 different clearing agents from the lfs which worked but then it came back and eventually it just cleared on its own. Frustrating I know but sometimes doing nothing can be beneficial. Let us know how you get on
  12. give them a chance and see what happens, let nature take its course in other words, no doubt what you think they will like will not be what they like anyway
  13. if I have to choose then days of our lives reality TV or docos
  14. freshwater Australia or anywhere else in the world?
  15. you can buy little guppy breeding tanks that float in your tank you could put mum in there and once she gives birth remove her. I think these tanks have two sections so the fry can go into another section from mum. all the best with your future fry
  16. cool tank Hummingbird, are you going to secure the heaters more out of sight?
  17. i think the plants could have help as they use fish waste for fertiliser, sad to hear about your loss, do you have another tank that you can steal some filter media or gravel from?
  18. I have the same thing as you Southerrrngirl and have read that some siamese algae eaters will make a meal of brown algae, so I think I will give that a go, when I can find some.
