  1. I like the one of your fighter at the top, very cool!!
  2. I agree with tilting your heater, I would do that and check on your tank a few hours later to see what the temp is, to see if its made a difference.
  3. I have one male and three females in a tank with angels and gouramis, they don't seem to bother each other, they keep to their own species mostly. Everyone seems happy enough.
  4. oh god panic stations!!! My worst was one time the hose came disconnected from the pump while I was trying to reconnect everything after cleaning and the hose started syphoning water out of the tank onto the floor, mmm that was fun
  5. I bought a new bristlenose for my 4 ft tank about 6 weeks ago, it was really small and as soon as it was released it disappeared into my java fern. I looked for it over the next week and never saw it, I thought that maybe one of the angels had attacked it and it died. but to my surprise last weekend all of a sudden there she was on one of my ornaments, my husband spotted her while I was out and I thought he must've mistaken her for the other bristlenose I have (scraper). but he was right, it was her, she is alive and well and about three times the size she was when she went in, I'm really pleased. We have named her Miss Whip, due to the whippiness of her tail as she eats. Does anyone else have fish tales of survival they would like to share?
  6. I have a similar thing happen with my Java Fern and the leaves that turn brown get new little baby plants on the end of them, I just assumed that the leaves were old and dying off, most of the plant seems healthy and even better now I have some ottos to clean them and keep the algae at bay.
  7. gardening (i don't like to read) walk or run
  8. I read on this forum that discus like clean water (someone correct me if that's incorrect), just something to be wary of going forward, good luck with your discus.
  9. you could try swordtails or dwarf gouramis too.
  10. and never buy a deformed fish, no matter how much you feel sorry for it, chances are as it grows it will die anyway
  11. glitter (gotta have that bling!!) dusk or dawn
  12. brown bread comedy or thriller (movie)
  13. internet (by far!) winter olympics or summer olympics
  14. My butterfly rams and serpae tetras love it when i gravel vac and they try to eat the stuff going up the tube and can't suss out why they can't get to it. I have to be careful that I don't suck them up though, and most of my fish enjoy it when new water is poured into the tank, they like to go with the flow.
  15. could be that one was older, or just not a strong fish.
  16. paper (no washing involved!!) Sun or shade
  17. I use Jager, more expensive but I have found them to be reliable.
  18. I would say it might have made a tasty snack for someone!!
  19. I have had heaters get stuck on before and kill my fish, don't know what brand but it wasn't Jager. I only buy Jager heaters now and every one I have had is really reliable. but it comes down to personal preference really and what experiences you have.
  20. My false algae eater burrows into the stones in the tank and he likes to move stones about and will bury himself up to half his body length before wriggling out of the stones. My butterfly rams, I have 4 and one is more dominant and gets shitty at anyone coming into his area, he will grab another ram by the lip and have a toussle with them. This one is more highly coloured than the others. My bristlenose fiercely guards the spirolina tablet against everyone else and even has a go at the gouramis and angels if they try to push in.
  21. yeah I think they would grow back, I had a neon tetra that lost its tail due to fin rot once and it completely grew back.
  22. sounds like black beard algae, yes it is pretty common. how much and what kind of algae you get totally depends on your set up, but you will always get some algae at some stage. Hard to advise not knowing anything about your set up, but you can get fish that will eat this algae, the best one I've heard of for this type of algae is a siamese algae eater.
  23. earphones XBox or Playstation
  24. I would try getting algae eaters first before getting a CO2 setup, you may not need it.
