  1. Like I said OLD That's why when you get a starter culture, the first thing you do, is set up a new one. Set one up and keep it, carefully labelled, in the fridge. They don't produce too well there, but, if ya loose ya culture, you've that one to fall back on. Alan

    Urgent Help

WHISPER If you get some flake food, mix the Levamisole into it to make a mixture like putty, then make into pellets the size of aspros. Fish get a feed and a dose of medicine. Works a treat. Alan
  13. Yep, Rob, I'm similar but cheaper. A piece of 'glad-wrap', a heavy smear of the top working area of the culture, wrap it up and sellotape, send. On arrival, Add to a piece of damp bread that has had a small amount of dry yeast spread onto it. Wipe the starter onto this. Micro worms will start climbing in about a week using this method. Straight away, make a new culture as a back up, in case the first should go off. Alan
  14. Malawis aren't "quite basic water" fish they have a more alkaline water than 'normal' fish have. So keep that in the equation. Alan
  15. It isn't a case of the white-spot not surviving, they just go faster thru the process of attaining the swimming part of their life, coming into contact with the chemical, and dieing. Oh! By the way. Did anyone say turn up the air supply to the tank. Water holds less oxygen the warmer it gets. Alan
  16. wotcha meen am I alright LB Alan
  17. No they aren't legal in NZ. I got caught with some and had them confiscated by MAF. NO I wont tell you where I got them from. But I do know someone who has some also now. NO I'm not saying who. Alan
  18. Since when have frogs breathed under water Try putting one in a bottle filled to the top, and put on the lid. It dies, it drowns. Ask any frog hunter, if a frog dives, stick around, it's gunna come up sooner or later. Alan

    Anenome injury

Make it Just need a piece of PVC pipe that fits over the heater, then drill a heap of holes in it for circulation Easy peasy Alan
  20. Where are you shipping to?? I just send mine in an envelope as a letter I received one from Matt in Auck after I explained how to send. That worked perfectly ok You may see the results at Napier from that shipment. I also sent some to Bikie, she also has been successful at getting her culture going. Alan
  21. As for keeping them inside without a heater and calling them "cold-water" uh uh I have a friend in New York, who's furnace broke down and lost her power, had to leave her house cause of the bitter cold. Returned three days latter to find her tank FROZEN solid Let's see a "cold-water guppy" survive that. The question I wanted to ask the seller, was, What are the taxonomical names of your cold water guppy and your tropical guppy? But I couldn't ask Maybe someone from here could ask that question. Alan
