  6. yes silica sand you buy in shops is just purchased from swanson sands. THis silica sand is used for sand blasting and is very consistent, so able to pass through the nozzle. be careful, they are nice looking but gotta disturb the sand frequently. they compact in the water.
  7. haha sorry typo cool will take those into account
  8. if cost wasnt the issue, what would your picks me?

    ids please

im no expert but i have seen alot of normal BNs, that doesnt look like a normal BN, but then again, i noticed that plec species tend to differ very slightly and be a different L number. that is much lighter and the spots are big.
  13. make sure its RAW prawns not cooked, cooked will kill it. good luck, love the eels.
  14. thats ok this pleco will be in no shortage of food. i will also get a cheap common pleco to compete for food to increase its feeding aggression. as long as i get a roughly estimate on growth rate thats ok. i have learnt to be more patient in my hobby when it comes to plecos lol
  15. awesome! so they are slow growers so what is the vote, does that one on TM look ok?
  16. sorry that was silly, i forgot to put the link:D YES thanks :sml2:
  17. at one stage there was a short nose and a long nose, seem them but disppeared quickly. i got one ages ago, grew large, awesome fish. nippy but in a populated comm its ok. no on the list as far as i know
  18. Is this L190 the one that gets big? 4cm growth to 15 in 18 months, sounds reasonable? or slow? does it look healthy? i am looking at geting a royal to grow into a monster, not sure if should go for a 6cm specimen from lfs or get this one? feedback would be great
  19. weird. i would say something has happened, ow much bio media do you have? a well established aquarium should not get spikes, but mainly, if your bio media is enough. i would say your bio media isnt enough, and that it is spiking due to insufficient capacity? apart from that, dont know what else, food trapped somewhere? dead fish hidden

    filter

I have never had any breaks in my fx5. if you are careful, then it should be ok im sure. i have had mine running 5 years straight, and no replacement parts at all. I would say, fx5 is completely a different class, they are designed, built to have bigger capacity than aqua ones. I would vote fluval! all the way home baby! :happy1:
  21. that is exactly what i want!! where do you get that??? that is perfe;ct for moving bio filter, light and easy to move
