  1. I formally declare, that if the forum was able to get some sort of freshwater ray into the list. i will give a donation of $200 minimum for their time and effort. Now, i cant cover the whole cost of the process. im sure others on here who REALLY want to get this in would feel the same way. once the permit is up, importation is easy. i have no idea where to start and im sure some here do. there are a few people on this forum i am sure - would be more than happy to 'donate' for the forums time and effort to get freshwater rays in 8) Arowana comm, dats and freshwater rays...... sorted! curious, when was the last time the forum added something to the list and what fish was it? dont actually know :dunno: oh, Polypterus Endlicheri too! thats easier though! i know that will sell like hotcakes for at least the first 100 or so specimens!
  2. depends on cost, aquaone is sufficient, i dont need the superior thermostat of the jager anymore. i need another 900w of heating in total, the aqua ones are cheap and good value.
  3. Pignose/arrowhead puffer Tetraodon suvattii Fahaka Puffer Tetraodon lineatus
  4. You dont need tob e a millionaire ot rich even to hvae tanks like that. you just need to fully re prioritise all spending For example, if you have a car, big screen tv etc. all that money can go into building a tank. Or other habits such as drinking and smoking.... tank! i guess the space can be a problem and gotta have your own home, but if you got your own home, its very possible, its just a matter of completely dedicating yourself to it lol
  5. thats insane! lol awesome. i am considering a background like that. hardscape. there are suppliers in US and UK that may be able to s hip. not sure cos once it is in there, you cant rip it out. once you fill with water with a bare back, you cant put a background on after! so gotta decide do i want the minimalist look or the hardscape tree trunk jungle type background?

    LED Moonlight

You can buy any cheap LED light from TM perhaps. dont go TOO bright, it disturbs fish if too bright. but i had a moonlight, ust got a 12w energy saving bulb that kinda glows orangy in colour. I can tell you, its awesome to see the behaviour of some nocturnal fish!
  7. thats when you escalate a passion to an obsession
  8. id love one! the thign is you can actually make that inside i reckon! a big garge with a rumpus:D mmmmmmm lol
  9. LIke any business, one started to guarantee it. and everyone did. One place told me, they wont ship less than 50 fish! they produce more than 2000 Golden crossback alone, he said that they have their shipping so nicely perfected that he is surprised to get a few a year come back dead. It is not worth the argument lol apparently, they icepack the water during shipment and the fish goes to sleep. they ship from singapore all the way to canada, europe, south frica, dubai! anyway, tangent. but yeah, just an aside :slfg:
  10. I just don't like working with other people...............................................Just sayin 8) You dont need to set up your own. a few QT facilities here will do it for you for the right price, and if they know you are the real deal... meaning, you will come with the goods (cash is king) and front up. but you gotta source your own stuff generally speaking. It is easy for me, arowanas, easy to source! I thought about a 'group buy' on here. but one, its against the rules. but even if its not.... i would demand a 50% non refundable deposit - in saying that, all farms i have dealt with including the one that i am going to buy from guarantee live frish on arrival. Upon death of a fish, they want a picture of the fish cut in half and the chip sent back with the cert. full refund will then be given.

  12. Maybe the doctor would be a better place to seek advice?? :slfg:
  13. keep them full, have very very strong and good bio filtratoin. they will stop eating each other if they are full. lots of brine shrimp and crushed pellets soaked in water. i fed mine crushed hikari sticks and massivore, soaked in water so it doesnt expand in their stomach and pour it in, they readily accept this
  14. I think you need to do it yourself, and sell the species you import. having an arrangement like this is really a business arrangement.... personally, i would want documents drawn up and a company formed....to get involved in a joint venture
  15. Will silicone stick the rock on to the glass effectively Though? any special type silicone? Stand will support extra weight problems... Also I wanted bare bottom...will it look weird with that?
  16. saw an article online. http://www.fmueller.com/home/aquaristic ... ackground/ how much would glass handle in terms of rocks siliconed to the glass background? this seems like a brilliant idea! any feedback? tank will be 12 to 15mm most likely 15mm due to the dimensions of the planned tank. looks awesome!
  17. Toxic? The glue they use is it ok? Also what type of rock Is good to use? Shist?
  18. insane! some of those chameleons look fake! so colourful. love that giant looking grasshopper
  19. I used to put an aerator under the media, so massive amounts of bubbles go through the media. but yeah, i guess bigger flow would be optimal! and future proofed too when it comes to time when i do a full aro comm:D I will have 2 or 3 fx5 in it too, but i could remove one fx5 if i put a laguna in there i guess
  20. No Plants. Just light for the fish and its colour to show. it needs light. i Also dont like the massive amount of light reflecting fromt he glass lids, really thats the main problem i have:) (look im being a diva..... but that is besides the point) so just throwing it out there. wsa considering a hood that goes on top of the tank with a reflector. so the light doesnt escape the glass and is contained
  21. My new tank, i will make a suspended lighting system from the ceiling. I am looking at multiple 'cree led' bulbs. good on power, cheap to replace, lasts longer and retains its power for longer and doesnt fade like T8 tubes. I am wondering, is there a way for glass to be made less reflective and increasing transmission of light into the tank? Or less reflective but letting the same amount of light into the tank?
  22. even with great water temps and condition, your clown loach will 'grey out' from time to time. It could be a method of communication. perhaps being submissive/dominant or something behavioural. many fish change colour during courtship and interaction with one another.
  23. looking at wireless powerheads. the ones that stick on like a magnet on the glass and driven by induction. any cheaper alternatives out there? dont wanna pay 300 to 400 each! the sun sun powerheads are too big and take up too much room,
  24. No, no more royals. plecos will be kept to a minimum. deciding to take a different direction, an arowana focused direction. also, bare bottom tank i will go for. dead spots wont be an issue. with comming arowanas, many suggest 'jets' to distrct the aro. so the outlets in the tank, from return or fx5 will be focused into jets, strategically pointed to make sure aros are distracted from most directions. also dont in conjunction with perheads (such as tunze jets). this will ensure there are no dead spots. also minimal wood and caves too. so definitely thought of that. but will make sure dead spots are taken care of. i guess its more of the turn over of a bigger tank less turn over per hour. but in theory, it should be fine if you look at concentration of waste vs volume vs turn over ratio right?
