  1. i would be weary cathching them close to auckland, water can be slightly polutted some guys sell them though. i dont see a difference feeding dead shrimp over live shrimp. cos the shrimp you get around the beaches are tiny!
  2. i can vouch for that its a biggie but i can tell you now if you have never seed davids ornate bichir that it is the largest i have seen! length yes, its long.... but the thickness of this mother!
  3. they are readily available Tm always has them when people cant houes them anymore and become too big
  4. massive tank or you decide that you wana feed them heaps.... then they get big quicker:D im trying to get mine huge lol greeny is coming along alright!

  9. has any one had experience with this my tank is about 60 cms tall max. i have 3 4 foot bulbs - one arcadia (the whitest brightest plant ones). power glo and right at the front aqua glo to bring up the colour of my arowana. do you think planting these in thtqa tank it woul have enough light, cos i dont want them getting tall, i read that they get taller and if the tank isnt lit. i want them to be like a carpet.
  10. also, fertilising java fern is it realy needed? you obviusly cant use fert balls, so use liquid?
  11. im also looking at java ferns do i need to put them on a piece of wood or can they grow planted in the gravel like other plants. some websites say dont cover the rhizome...what the hell is that? the bulb? or he roots ? and how does one attach them to wood, common sense would say using athin clear fishing line.... but how long will it take for htem to hold and how strong is the hold?
  12. if they cant grow tall what sort of plant can i put ... the areais very bright with deep substrate. i want something that will go high up.
  13. i have star grass, i was thinking of putting it at the back to get it to grow tall and high. someone said that they go black when they get tall and keep them low so should i just keep them crawling on the ground like a carpet or can they get pushy and tall with nice colours?

  15. the right side of the tank plenty of light but the far leftdoes not have as much so i will put some low light plants down the other end:D
  16. i have heaps of light 3x 4 foot bulbs all plant growing bulbs im getting java ferns today low light

  18. yeah, arpaima was 6 foot! 4 to 5 foot pangasius cats 4 foot tiger shovel noses heaps! a few 1 metre long silver aros. 60 to 70 cms is big!
  19. I dont know how to really plant them do you give lots ofspace per plant? common sense says to me that if you put too close, one will block the others light but then again, i have seen some pretty heavily planted plants. should i plant them side by side or give a nice gap?
  20. how big is it exactly? i have seen some pretty big arowanas, wow! in thailand, crazy!!! i saw a 6 foot arowana!
  21. can i get a list of what plants are high and low light so i can position thm this is wha ti have Tiger lotus wysteria stargrass amazon swords? crypts 2 types of anubias, on with whitish green leaves the other is just green. this thing that has kinda prickly sides, its like a grass, really weird. thats the plants i got i have plenty of fertballs in there.

  23. the dragon fish thing for asian feng shui is actually marketing some genius basically related it to a dragon. because it look slike a dragon. the colour is supersticious. ifor one dont buy it for those reason. but yes, some would pay 30 grand for one
