  3. My wifes Malawi's also love to eat duckweed, put in a scoopand its gone in no time
  4. the eggs will hatch in 24 hours if your going to move it , i'd say move it now . Use a container that will hold the whole nest bring it underneth and just take the lot , you might want to float the container for a while or even let the eggs hatch while floating and release the fry after there a little bigger if the container can hold them. Good luck
  5. Awesome Tim, neat looking apple snail eggs, I also have gold liniatus eggs , about 20 so far but only 3-4 days old, will let you know how they do
  6. Even Shakespeare could give his thoughts on this ... How many people treat there tap water with Aqua Plus ( or another product ) during water changes, I'd be really interested to know as I DO but with the amount of tanks and water changes I do its rather expensive. Keeping in mind i don't have somewhere where i can let tap water sit for days while the clorine evaporates I was wondering if everyone does treat or not and if not is there any ill effects, look forward to your thoughts....thanks
  7. Looking forward to meeting you again Wok ( Paul ) See you there
  8. its not in Auckland Wok its in Wellington , its always sunny
  9. Hi My wife Adele found some new barbs ( they were sold to her as Cherry Barbs  ) in the LFS and after looking them up with Kevin Rowe we think they are Barbus semifasciolatus / puntius semifasciolatus. They are similar to the golden barb but have a strong pinkish huge to them and green on there backs which does not show up well on the photo's. Any thoughts or are these again a new breed as we think, if so keep your eyes peeled in your LFS. Looking them up on the net , they seem to have a couple of common names , mostly Chinese Barb or Green Barb.
  10. has he had his pectoral fins damaged of biten off ? just a thought :-?
  11. but you have no idea Caryl how many customers don't see it that way good for you.
  12. I bet there grateful your taking it so well a lot of people would be kicking and screaming and that really does not help if there doing all there can, 1 browny point for Caryl
  13. I've taken the eggs at the stage the tail is just showing, thats how i got this last batch with almost 100% survival rate. This stage
  14. As you know Blue , i have these and some very nice size batches , i don't use the airstone but do make sure there is good water flow over the eggs /wriggers and as soon as the egg sacks are going always have food in front of them , either leco chips/ zuccini or both , what i think is the key is total removal of yesterdays food each day . and a new lot placed in there box/tank.
  15. you can do the lettue thing in a bucket outside just to make the green water and add some as needed but i fine its not a problem. I'd use one female at a time to start with , i have done it with two but it seemed to confuse the male a bit, you know us males are easly confused
  16. what i do is feed up both fish for about 2 weeks , lots of live food / frozen bloodworm etc , set up a small tank just a degree warmer than there normal tank, place a strip of polystirine about 2-3cm wide accross the front of the tank for them to build a nest under. also place a few things in the tank for the female to hide in until the male has finished building the nest.... add fish and wait , withing two day there will be a nice nest with lots of eggs in it, 2 days later lots of very little fry. After there have done there thing i remove both parents, add a few leaves of crushed lettue for infersoria and a few drops of number 1 fry food. sit back and watch Has workd every time for me
