  1. for there cories
  2. sorry my bad spelling again its "plasterers" sand
  3. there were other sands but i wanted a fine sand , i'm useing sponge filters so was not worried about it getting into a filter or anything and fine is good for the cories
  4. I like to use sand or some substrate because some species of corys like to lay there eggs on broad leaf plants or java moss so the substrate helps the plants. The cory's also like to hide/shade under the plants too making them feel safe and happy corys breed easyer
  5. I've just set up 3 new tanks just for cory's and have used platters sand from goodshed in naenae , $7.50 a bag ( enough for about 3, 3 foot tanks )
  6. ahh so tempting ........
  7. I run sponge filters in about 30+ of my tanks and they are THE best for fry , not only do they keep the water clean but pull all the "good food" for the fry to one place for the fry to feed off.
  8. Way to go mate , look forward to progress big thumbs up !

  12. i agree , the leopard fish are great but sometimes called the dusky million fish so can be confused with Gambusia ( mosquitofish ) called sometimes the million fish ( same as guppies ) boy its easy to get confused but are a totally differant fish species , and a fantastic fish at that

    Angel eggs

it seems with a lot of Aquarium bred agels they do eat there babies as Alan said , i took a chance and left mine and they raised there babies quite happily and it was awesome to see the parents and babies together, it might be worth leaving them and see how your pair goes , if they eat them you can always take the next batch out and raise them seperately Good luck

my kadango and peacock are about the same size are what seems like "best mates" they hang out together and i don't think i've ever seen them snap at each other with any real anger, maybe I'm just lucky but i have seen them both snap at the male kenyi

These were the two males both very attractive and the two dominant fish in the tank, it was mostly with the front one the male Kadango but every now and then the peacock would muscle in and drop his milt then swimm off chased by the Kadango , maybe because i don't have a female peacock, awesome to watch as i've never seen mouth brooders spawn before even tho i have had them bred for me before. It was the male Kadango that cleared the substrate to form the nice flat spawning site and do the swimming in a tight circle with the female so i'm pretty sure the two Kadangos did 99% of the action

My question is will a female spawn with two males at the same time ? , I've just been watching my female red Kadango ( spelling ) spawning with two seperate males and I'm 99.9% sure both were releasing milt onto the eggs/spawning site , is this normal ?
  18. I'm very sad to hear the news , i did meet Peter and Sheila a few months ago and a nicer couple you could not hope to meet. My thoughts are with Peter and his family, God bless Sheila, and rest in peace.
