Hey Pie, do you have any of these in your tank? And is it an Urchin? It is the size of a 20cent piece and was crawling up the back of the tank glass! The spines are hard as a rock, but the centre body is softish and sticks to hard surfaces with immense force! I couldnt move it out of the cup!! It was stuck so hard!! The hard spines wiggle slowly all over the place. COOL!! Good, or bad in my tank....It is sitting in a net until further notice!! I noticed it this morning at 4AM just before starting my 25% water change that was 2 weeks overdue!!

The only way to save your tankmates is to get rid of as much of the nitrite as you can. You need to try and do a massive water change. 10% will acheive absolutely nothing. Can you manage to do that much? Go and buy some bigger contaniers today!!

What Nitrite test are you using? What per cent water change did you do? You shouldnt be reading Nitrite. Water change not big enuff. May have faulty NITRITE test kit.

Make sure it is a BIG one!! 50-60% BEACHLANDS...TYPICAL!

If it looks a little weak, silicon some ribs around the edge.

SIMPLE.....Forget the ins and outs, you say you have NITRITE. This is more than likely the issue. Find the dead stuff if you can. 50-60% water change immediately. feed lightly for one or two weeks and keep your hands out of the tank for two weeks. JUST DO IT.

Slow down your feeding for a week and watch your Nitrite levels, They may rise. Ammonia gets broken down fast but nitrite gets broken down slower. removing too many bio balls at once can cause this. You may notice an increase in nitrite, YOU DONT WANT THIS!! BE careful! Craig
