Finally got the "Fuul Tank" night shot!
  2. It must be toxins...Its the only thing. Water change is probably the only answer. They are quite hardy, so if the toxins are removed they may come right. I had a small brown xenia get stung by a torch. It melted. I chopped it off arogantly with a blunt knife and ended up smashing and squashing it. I then dropped it and the current took it out the back somewhere! 5 weeks later I saw it on the beach and it had stuck to a little rock looking listless and completely dead. I chucked it in a little hole and thought Id keep an eye on it. And now......... BEAUTIFUL!
  3. They will start melting if they are next to Torches or Other stinging coral, but you said it is in your sump which means....Coral food! Nothing to lose if you havent been using it. The Ecosystem has EVERYTHING exept Ca and MG and buffer.
  4. Pies, I have Xenia that is so big and growing so fast I can hardly control it. I have just had a sick one which will come right shortly. It got stung by my Heliofungia, (So did I for that matter!). Try getting a bottle of "Ecosystem, reef food liquid", (The same people who make miracle mud. (Ask Reef). Or real quick go and get some general coral food and dose it quick. Are you using coral food? Another good one is REEF SUCCESS Coral Food. I am running colourful acros in my tank also now, so my water is good. Nitrates 3 Po4 0 And my Xenia is pumping. Craig
  5. And where does this information come from Mr Control. Most natural Reefs would not have as much high Algae/Coral ratios like the few of us using Fuges. Have you been doing Marine for long? (Interested).
  6. Have you tried Salifert phosphate Killer. Works Great.
  7. If youre up again, I can give you a bit of Macro also. Good luck!
  8. Hows the Fuge coming along Mitch?
  9. Get an "aquarium pharmaceuticals" brand, (single). Easy and accurate enough.
  10. The topic was more for fish than anemones nice pic! just like I wouldve done!

Cheers Pie, have just added another batch of Acro frags. Tank a bit cloudy....took me 3 bloody hours to glue them on. I hate the "knead it" look, but what else can you do huh? Will post a "whole" pic tomorrow when she's cleared. I cant fit another thing in my reef now. shes all reefed out! (Eleven Acro frags in my little box now). Time to keep hands out and Just sit back and watch her grow.

    Red Hair

Ok...is any of you guys with sumps doing anything about your red Hair algae or just leaving it? My sump lighting runs 24/7, so am pretty sure this is the reason why.

I cant sell it....changed my mind! Too nice. Ive given up on the balls at this stage. Zoos suffer a touch. May try again at some stage to make sure it wasnt something else. It definitely removes nitrate and phosphate very well though.

  19. OMG Fay...what've you done! They'll be right....
  20. Chop off any excess plastic bits and use the heater guards mentioned above and use aquarium silicon to glue the guard onto the powerhead. Works great.

    refugium

All you need to do is to make sure your main pump intake is well clear of any swirling fine bubbles. This is what the purpose of the baffles are. Just a piece of plastic located right can act like a baffle. You may not need to install baffles if you can place the pump intake in a out of the way spot. Good luck.
