    More algae.

Tank is now getting close to 6 months old. Im in the middle of yet another bloom. :-? This is the fourth bloom since startup and my nitrates are 5, (Salifert). Phosphates 0, (Salifert). Any ideas, (Im not really worried, just interested to hear any possible reasons). Cheers Craig
  2. Maybe its just proud to be the one left behind!
  3. Saltaquarium.about.com would be the best place to start. I found it extremely useful. The other sites are great too. Good luck!
  4. I think the water movement in the video looks too false and even. IMO It Doesnt look natural, its too rhythmical.
  5. Nodle...you're right...Its legendary!! So whats with this "rubber" fetish again....

Nothing wrong with speaking your mind in some situations. You get nowhere otherwise. Maybe they should be PMs though, rather than in the public eye. (That goes for all of us).

As i said, I am not in this for greasing. I buy Alois' stuff through the retail stores and not directly through him. Thats what businesses have to do in certain circumstances whilst contracts are in place. Trust me Pie, my eyes are fully open. They have to be in my industry. I deal with six local Council Authorities everyday. It all comes down to maturity and what should be said in a public chatroom. Some statements should be left for times when standing face to face, not behind a keyboard. There is nothing wrong with SALIFERT Po4 killer. (IMO). And I am a user of Seachem also. They are all good. ITS JUST LIKE FORD AND HOLDEN... Personally I like them both the same....Well only of late since FORD through in the BOSS engine!! (About time)!! I make decisions on results, not just what people say.

Reef has been around for a long time. He knows his stuff thoroughly and competitors have since entered the game. All his products DO work, as I have used them myself. He also has common sense not to supply products that fail and if they did he would advise and pull them off the market if found to be so. I have no problems with his business procedures or manner in which he delivers his knowledge. The other competitors mentioned above do make digs and this seems very unprofessional in my opinion, (I own two businesses). i.e: Mentioning the WAREHOUSE glue, directly after Reef placing his info on the TUNZE product. That was a low blow. I am glad this product has been exposed as it has probably had 100 times more R & D compared with the former. Reefs' tank is extremely nice and he has given me valuable information and I know he has helped others aswell. I am not dissing other suppliers directly, however in my business I am surrounded by competitors. The world does not exist without them, so we've all got to just deal with it and realise we are all in a big competition. Maybe these newcomers are too young to be aware and will learn as they mature. Keep up the good work A. (My tank is finished for now, so I do not need anyone's assistance should anyone thinking I may be greasing up. Trust me, I have no need). THE END.
  11. Im running VENTURE 250 watt MH. No kelvin rating tested...just blue. For the aquarium trade aswell as lighting up big buildings!
  12. So whats on the agenda at this meeting? drinkypoos or fishtalk!!
  13. Jump in it and fly down the shops and get a new one!!
  14. Nitrates down to 5. Salifert. Starting to drop slower now. Removed my carbon and my Phosphate killer today. Will be interesting to see how the 2 x bags CLEARMEC PLUS takes over its job of keeping everything down. PO4 still zero, (Salifert). Tank still looking great........
  15. I agree with a bigger sump to create a large water system. I cant fit anything bigger than a 50 litre one in mine... Still working fine, but nowhere near ideal. My cabinet is tiny, (Still got a fuge in there though!).
  16. Ive got some fresh Takapuna stuff from Wasp 2 days ago. .28 salinity exactly. Refracto.
  17. Ive always been a little impatient! Oops. Seems alright....
  18. My one's brand new and was calibrated yesterday. read .28 NSW Waitemata.
  19. So for some reason NZ water seems to be .28? I wonder why this would be. Something to do with harbour inlets perhaps with not enough through flow?
  20. Dropped my salinity from .28 to .25, (refractometer). Still running balls with no problems. Brain improving, Nitrates dropping.
  21. So Ira, do you run with the .28 or do you dilute back to .25?

    ZEOVIT

Hey, why do they call you pies anyhow..... Do you eat heaps like me!! Im a mince and cheese fan....... :-?
  23. Oh god...Here we go again!!!
  24. If you are only going to run softies and depending on the size of your tank, you can probably handle with .1 Phosphate and 15 Nitrate. If you have enough live rock, this should come down anyway, provided you are not overfeeding. Running Carbon, Phosphate killer and other similar things should suffice for what you want. Zeovit will work well, but has constant feeding requirements and is not cheap, nor expensive. Waste of time I think. I am soon to run acros and I am not running it. I choose Refuge and the above methods. Good luck
