    Convict cichlids

hey....me too. my convicts wont breed too. how old do they have to get in order to breed? my convicts are like this big |---------------------------| including tails. may be are still too young
  10. i would say chances are they are all already been fertilised by albinos males as they are all raised in same batch in a commercial breeding line?
  11. that explains all, everything you need to know about guppies!
  12. there are many guppy breeders out there that is line breeding. doing this will ensure the pureness of the guppy strains. to start line breeding is easy. you just need a couple of tanks to start with. to create your own strain, get a decent looking male and some neutral coloured virgin females. after the drop of the females, soon you will find many babies that resembles the parent male. as the frys grow to 3-4weeks of age, separated the males and females to keep the virgin females. at 3 months of age, choose the best looking virgin daugther females, and you can now cross the decent male back to his daugther. repeat that to their offsprings and cross again to his granddaughter etc.
  13. from what i can see in the picture you have got yourself a normal male guppy. in short, he has black pigments cells which contain melanin. Melanin is a black substance that can concentrate itself in the cell or disperse throughout. albino has no melanin pigment at all, therefore if you cross them, chances are there are no albino at all and expect grey offspring. but the babies will be albino carriers, if you cross the albino females with the babies, chances are you will get - 50% albinos. Cross babies with babies - 25% albinos. but since they are imported albino females. chances are they are not virgin, so they might have been cross with an albino males. so the babies come out now could be albinos!!!!!
  14. thanks for sharing. very nice pictures. you have very healthy albino frys there.

  17. you sure all got me thinking. now i have to find myself a reliable pump that is quiet and run long term. high capacity pumps at LFS are just so darn expensive!!
  18. are you all using this kind of pumps? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 290680.htm by watering type hose do you mean irragation types hose? not sure of how would these connect to the pump. whats the diameter of the outlet pump? 20mm?
  19. hi all, i am considering a stronger air pump which can pump up to 20-30 tanks. what brand or spec would people recommend? obviously a pump with 2-4 outlet wouldnt be any good for me.
