lol...there is always room for improvements. lately i have found out while im heavily breeding poecilia, xiphophorin species, hybrid of this species (koi swords and platies) with areas on their bodies fequently develop a type of tumors. :-? got sick of this...and just want to upgrade the filteration a little.

oh yea...im thinking of 19mm hose or pipe for the setup. and a eheim 1250 pump and going thru a trickle filter then UV filter then up to tanks again. would this do the trick?

Hi all. i am thinking of DIY a breeding setup for breeding livebearers. i have one of those typical 4 shelves bunnings type galvanised steel stands. 3 - 730mm x 300mm x 300mm tanks. 1 - 730mm x 300mm x 300mm Sump at the bottom shelve (heater, pump, UV filter) illustrated in my sketch. question is what sort of submersible pump can i get in order to have enough power to pump to all above tanks? the shelves itself is 1500mm high plus 300mm high tank, so it will be 1800mm height in total.

thanks for typing that out Caryl. worth read!!yea true...argh...those nasty angels!!a good rule is as long the fish will not fit into the angels mouth. it should be ok.i am interested to see how the filteration system is setup though.from my experience just make sure not to expose the tank to high intensity light. or put it in somewhere shaddy is fine.great!! we are seeing some progress now!!sponge filter are great for rearing small frys. i was planning a bulk buy on them but then those trademe sellers Fishzone or Tankgirl3 hasnt got them anymore...i had this happened sometime too. fry gone without food for couple days, but luckily blue fixs me up with some MW culture. when i have this happen, i would normal clean out the whole hatching kit/tank or watever. refill the water, check the water, salt salinity etc. hopefully it will go again. but i still didnt figure out what went wrong. :roll: seems to be doing everything right.thats what makes our little platy a hardy fish to keep!well done. hail to albinosyea...metal halide the best :roll:hmm....i see nice guppies there... 8)way to go!! keep us updated.no....tins comes in somewhere around 425 grams. try contact alan or phill (new zealand discus man)the best way is buy them in tins.
