  1. Discus Garden (3ft grow out tank, BB, 90% water change daily, supplemented with many plants help remove ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and urea) Also helps the discus feel at ease by providing some hiding places and flora to look at edit: Red Melon pair on right in their 'spawning corner', new Yellow Pigeons centre, small Red Tomato on left.
  2. I don't think a lot of people have riccia or try to stick it down as it naturally floats, and is quite a pain as it will grow out from whatever you tie it down with, some people use some inside a stocking and that is tied to a rock or whatever then it grows though (think that's how it works, try google). But I'd say most would tie it down to slate or wood with nylon. It pearls up beautifully if you run CO2 on it

    Julies?

I did know a girl called Julie, also currently know one called Julia. Alive and well in NZ.
  4. Cheers man, how's things with you anyways? Yea I'm keen to get some of those golden (some shops sell them as albino but they're not as they have dark eyes, much better IMO) WCMM, goldfishbowl has them cheaper than some big Auckland chains even. No don't think fish could live in conjunction with dry ice
  5. Heya, nice guess at the Christmas spray, but it's not that either Yea everything from NZ locations, won't give specifics in case brother MAF is watching
  6. Shot Mystic. Nice price too for wild juliis... almost all shops sell them as juliis when they're almost always trilineatus  Let me own a LFS!
  7. Yep definitely C. Trilineatus. Phil NZdiscusman had some proper julii's for sale on TM maybe look up expired listings you'll see the spots on the head.
  8. Cheers for the comments, yeah I should've set it up a bit sooner then the mosses would've been a bit greener and there was some small grasses too that originally were bright green, maybe next time. I accidentally left them in my dad's van and so it went to tauranga and got delayed a week to get it back, then took me another week to set it up hehe
  9. Thanks guys appreciate the feedback. Does anyone not like it? Think it's a bit cooky? I've just set it up as a temporary display tank but the fish seem to really like it. I had them outside previously and they've coloured up really well probably from that. Not prazi sharn although good guess

  11. Hi Chin, can I ask where you got all your discus from? Cheers

    Apistogramma

milt to the eggs... i imagine the eggs are adhesive
  13. That's cool aye Ocean, didn't know that either. I had a couple that I got from Pick-a-pet in Papamoa Tauranga, they grew up really big in a fry tank of mine, then I put them one in my large discus display tank, survived a while then the discus bit through it's shell and ate it's insides out through the shell, was nasty getting it out (70cm deep tank too!), then the other one in the discus grow out tank slithered over the intake of the powerhead...thought it would be able to slither away, I was wrong, couple of things I learned there lol As a side note, never saw them breed or any eggs etc, can they change sex does anyone know? I heard some snails can do this.
  14. Nice man. That fish room looks warm...... really warm hehe

    heat packs

Just had a botched courier/fish incident, the fish ended up getting left in the depot, they even started with one heatpack, temp got down to 16degrees celsious, redirected back to where they came from and a 10cm nice pigeon carked it, I agree with Stu, don't risk it.
  16. There was a link to this a little while ago, it's hosted at megatanks. (pst it's they're*)

    Apistogramma

Do all apistogramma species get on with each other in community tanks with other friendly fish? e.g tetras? Perhaps it's better to ask, is there any that don't get on with other fish? This is before they start breeding of course

    Red Badis

Haha I was thinking the same thing Alan, i think they meant it's badis not badis badis. Cool thread though, interesting to see what was happening (and what unfortunately didn't happen) 3 years ago.
