  1. Okay update time! Only a few eggs turned white. PH 6.9, temp 32 degrees celsius. It was so warm because of moving the heaters. The one I had taken it from my water storage barrel and it was set higher than I thought. I reduced it to 30. The eggs hatched and they moved the wrigglers to the front right corner of the tank. Unfortunately it was looking like a really small batch, first I counted 25, then 30, 40, but it was hard to be accurate as some were on the front glass panel others were on the right glass panel.
  2. Evil, that's not Rotorua. It's at least an hours swim before you even get to the north island
  3. Hey matey, yep you could leave it in the sunniest spot possible in a bucket, with these summer temps that would help acclimatise it to your tank too. Mine was wild and I threw it straight in. It went from 20cm long to: Mix the PP until it's light purple...soak for 10mins then rinse. Blue's on to it When you put it in watch the fish they find interesting things come out of it to nibble on, not sure what that is exactly but they seem to like it.
  4. Yeah I agree ilah. It's good to see that going by their L numbers they are actually all nuggets just from different areas. Should make interbreeding easier Looking great Ronnie :bounce:
  5. hehe awesome sounds great dave thanks for putting together the idea
  6. Whoa that is so cool... please can she take another pic with a reference point in it.. e.g a neon tetra!! It looks massive. I don't think the photo is stretched as they grow out in every direction, but I really like it how they get 'tall' as well (from belly to dorsal fin). When they get this big they can munch on whole shrimp pellets. They get good at stealing them away very quickly. They grow so slowly; I have 16 and have had 3 of them for about 4 years and they're not as big as a couple of others I acquired so I wonder how old they are. That's an indication of great fish keeping when a fish can live that long and still be alive and well.
  7. You can disagree, but you're wrong. The beneficial bacteria is on the filter material, not in the water. Why do you think my fish are still alive after doing 90% water changes on them everyday??? The larger the water change the better; fish like fresh water. Nitrate is not at zero, it is building up because you're adding ammonia just like fish do! 8. Once you've nailed the lessons, spelling, and grammar, then you'll all be correct. :bounce:
  9. Yes you did, well done. But you should've put a semicolon between "languages" and "we" instead of a comma and removed the comma between "else" and "so".
  10. Awesome Discusguru looking good
  11. Great news. Are you going to pump some sweet CO2 in?
  12. = 372 watts total = 1.3w/litre... all good... very good in fact I suggest hairgrass for ground cover, or glosso, or riccia if you can be bothered tying it down
  13. Hey ilah. There's a few things you can do: 1) Increase the temp (e.g 30-31 degrees celsius) so the eggs will hatch faster 2) Add formalin to the water to help prevent fungus 3) Scrub the tank sides and bottom well to remove slime and waste 4) Keep up the daily water changes (making sure you don't expose the eggs) to keep the water fresh. Do this until you have a nice bunch of wrigglers. Let us know how you get on
  14. Yo-u I know that davidb. Reread the above. I was replying to his question To clarify, he meant what three letter word can you remove two letters from and it still have the same meaning. I know that "u" is not a word!
  15. I'm not sure on what planet you would find the word Que but it is not a word. Like I said, the word is "you" (take out "Y" and "o" and you get "u")
  16. hehe mine do .. well one did and it freaked me out! I screamed "clown down" and the neighbour came over cuz he said he heard a lady scream.
  17. Oh last time I sent plants it was $7 via courier but there's gotta be a cheaper way...so I'll try to find out
  18. haha why do you say that? She won fair and square....kinda like a hole in one. It's a 4ft (120cmx50x50) / 300L tank Mystic. I have 2 long bambo logs weighted down for them to hang out in. One 'use' to be enough
  19. Cool quack I look forward to seeing them. Good work on increasing your numbers.
