My heavily planted tank read 0 nitrate last couple of times I checked it. This is with pressurised CO2 as well though. I still do weekly or every second week water changes. There's no substitute for a gravel vac and fresh water
Nice line up flatfish! That must've set you back a bit for all those flash plecs.
I have:
Plecs
5x standard bristlenose
1x redspot
2x good-sized golden nugget
Cories
5x Adolfo
5x Bronze
5x Sterbai
1x Albino
Aros are extremely hard to breed in captivity (need huge tanks and months of patience)... that said it's not impossible. Some guy did it in Asia. Once they started their courtship which lasts months he was feeding them only live goldfish too! :-?
Stunning. I got a big boy too. They breed in my 4 footer but not in a dedicated 2 footer. Think I'll need to try the 3 footer once the daphnia in it die off outside.
I was thinking airline when I was reading that but you say they're dry. I had my 300L totally empty from a airline falling down the back which started a self-siphon  Still...better than a cracked tank. Maybe the leak is near the top and once it dropped below that level it stopped leaking. Goodluck.
Heya, I don't believe there's a known cause, but overfeeding is suspected. I had one discus die of it after a huge feeding of colour bits so I put it down to that.
Mmmmm i couldn't help but think that too! They wouldn't swarm like that though. Nice video.... cool to see the true biotype...makes it easier to replicate
