  1. Welcome, fantastic looking pictures. Hope we get to see more soon Cheers Jude
  2. I just used fishing sinkers again - I got a bag of tiny ones from The Warehouse and tied them on with fishing line. The leaves hide the sinkers and the plants stay where you want them until they attach. Cheers Jude
  3. I've used driftwood from the beach. I washed it well then attached some fishing sinkers to it to hold it down. The sinkers were hidden in the gravel and it worked well. Cheers Jude
  4. Ramshorn snails won't eat your plants so I wouldn't panic. If you don't like the look of them get some clown loaches and let nature do its job
  5. Paper plates just need a quick heat through - enough to lighly brown them. Plastic plates should not be barbecued because they stink .......... it does keep the mozzies away though. China plates can take longer and need gentle heating to ensure they don't crumble - but can be a lot tastier than the paper variety. A useful hint is to marinate the crockery plates overnight - it makes them a lot more tender. Hope thats useful
  6. Awwww, poor fish. Try putting it in the hospital tank
  7. I never thought of that - you could end up with a little pile of white sand instead of a fish     You could seal it with bright yellow paint so it matches the duck of course Cheers Jude (who is now on the look out for a bad taste plastic fish)
  8. Looking good. I can see the yellow duck but where is the fish Ian and I gave you?

And welcome from me too - nice to see another moron here
  10. Don't let them go in your ears in the first place. They are probably just looking for a place to breed
  11. I don't have any at the moment because I've just redone my tanks and given the extras away. But if you pm me in a month or so I am sure I will have spares. Cheers Jude

    Hello hello...

That looks really nice. I'd make some attempt to hide the heater and lines behind the plants but that will happen anyway as they grow taller. Love the tiger barbs. I am currently setting up a whole tank for them. Cheers Jude

    Tank with whitespot

Yep, I am doing that - did a large one last night and will do another today - I figger that with fish popping off right, left and centre it would need something drastic to keep the water in a decent condition

    Tank with whitespot

Ummm - hang on, I'll check the bottle. No idea, the bottle doesn't say but I'd guess methylene blue because it turns the water blue. Cheers Jude
  16. Ha Ha - MTS sets in already. Before you know it you will be turfing out the family to make room for more tanks

    Tank with whitespot

Thanks Janet, I don't think it was overstocked because, apart from the bn's, it only had baby platies but its worth bearing in mind when the outbreak is over and I look at putting fish back in. Cheers Judy

    Tank with whitespot

My reply disappeared - or I hit the wrong button. The temp is up and I will continue the treatment until it is clear or the last poor itchy wee fish has passed on. Looking at them makes me want to scratch Cheers Jude

    Tank with whitespot

What about snails? I have lots of red ramshorns in there
  21. One of my tanks has whitespot and the fish are badly infected. I am having daily losses despite raising the temp and using white spot cure. I think I've discovered the cause - 2 largish long dead bristlenoses under a rock. That can't have done much for the water quality! Anyway, my question is, assuming the fish don't make it, how should I treat the tank, stones and plants to ensure the tank is safe again? Its a small 2 foot tank with a UG filter. Cheers Jude
  22. In my opinion you should try and get your kicks somewhere else. Sounds like watching the fish just isn't gonna work
  23. I was wondering whether he planned to heat the dog house and how much that would cost per month
