Is your thermometer accurate? I would check with another one before I considered changing the heater - I've been caught that way once already

I want to use aquatic clay in my new large tank but I hate the mess it makes. I've decided to plant most of the plants in pots and to have the clay in the pots BUT - I need the holey aquatic pots so the plant roots can spread AND I need a way of keeping the clay in!
I decided to use sphagnum moss to line the pots with and have purchased some but now I am wondering if it will be ok in a tank?
Any ideas anyone?

How well is the pump working? I had problems with my little jebo at work and discovered the pump was only just functioning. In the end I changed to a UG filter and its been fine since. Maybe something dead is stuck in the pump?

Damn. sorry to hear about the whitespot - how upsetting.
Sorry, don't know the answer to your question but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will.

Venustus, I can't see anywhere saying anyone hates the US.
And I agree. Seeing the chapter was called "How to Kill your fish quickly", I'm sure it was just a fun way of telling people what not to do.

What is a koi swordtail? Is it different to the ordinary swordtails or is it just another name for them?

Daltons aquatic mix is cheap - get it from your garden centre. Mix it with some gravel and then cover it with more gravel.
You do need to be sure you have aquascaped it the way you want it though, cause it makes a mess if it gets stirred up.
I have both gravel and sand in my big tank and I've noticed the plants grow faster in the sand. I suspect it doesn't pack down as hard as its very coarse sand.
