  1. Thanks! Yeah it is a bit annoying. I like the look of holpo catfish. Would this tank suit them?
  2. A bit of an update...whilst this tank looked real cool in it new location with two aqua one nautilus 2700 canister filters and two eheim jager 300 w heaters. It is with sadness that I have to report that we had to empty the tank due to an annoying leak. Well we are embarking on a mission to remove the sealant around the base of this tank as it was apparently sealed by the former owner to seal up a undisclosed patched up crack. Dad and I are now removing the sealant and all being well it will be re-sealed properly so I can reinstate my fish tank to its full former glory. I have also rethought my stocking to include: 3 Silver dollars 4 spotted metynnis 4 - 6 clown loaches 2 Red hump Geophagus Plus more if I see something I like Watch this space... http://iforce.co.nz/i/corhyxhx.bos.jpg http://iforce.co.nz/i/ou0gu513.3fp.jpg
  3. Wow! Nice fish and tank. :nfs:
  4. A trio of swordtails could work, but I don't know enough about them to say it would definitely work.
  5. You never know until you try with angelfish as some are agrressive and some are peaceful. My suggestions would be a species of gourami or some female bettas.
  6. Has anyone kept these fish before? I saw some for the first time at animates yesterday and I am now desperate to have some of them in my tank. Would they be alright in my community tank with : Gold Barbs, Lemon tetras, leopard danios, a gardneri killifish and a female betta? Cheers
  7. Sausages Tetras or barbs
  8. :nfs: Beatiful, just what I want one day only with more silver dollars :bggrn:
  9. A bit of an update: I've got them eating JBL granocolour, heart and prawns and one of them has grown quite fast. I also put a few rocks in the tank which they seem to like. Pics:
  10. !drool: beautiful, I must go there sometime !drool:
  11. I'll start: When I was about 3 I got a goldfish for Christmas and I was happy with that until one day when we were shopping at Palmers garden centre Hastings. Out the back I spotted a shop called Aqua fever. I went in and I was immediately emersed in a fishy paradise but the things that caught my eye were the turtles. I pleaded my parents for ages before they gave in. When we went back to get more turtle food I went to have a look at the fish and I spotted the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It was a marderin fish. Half a year later I brought a freshwater tropical tank for a marderin fish . After some help from aqua fever I settled with freshwater tropical fish. After a while I wanted to expand and I went from one tank to multiple tanks and back to one. Now I'm 11 and I have four tropical tanks and more recently I have set up two native tanks with advice from blueether and kiwiraka along the way.
  12. If the above are ramshorn snails what are the ones at animates?
  13. Do they look like this? On this website http://fishwise.co.nz/index.php/article ... end-or-foe it says:
  14. I go up behind them with a net then quickly pull it up.
  15. Thanks for that, I'll stick with water lilies and Gratiola.
  16. Hi, I have two questions about pond plants: Can you grow Gratiola sexdentata and Golden pennywort (Lysimachia nummularifolia) in a pond that's getting about two hours of sunlight atm and gets four hours of sunlight in summertime? I intend to have it as a plant only pond, will I need extra fertilsers?
  17. Because I'm very close to the ranges and no other galaxias have been recorded near me except one or two populations of koaro.
  18. Yup I will keep up sliker pads and I'll try to get a fan and a thermometer.
  19. As soon as I put the pump in one of the dwarf galaxias plonked itself in front of it.
  20. Yup I will get some this weekend hopefully. I've got a small pump spare so I'll put it in. I am feeding the brine shrimp with a syringe atm. I found the thread the other day
  21. Last week I caught two dwarf galaxias, I thought I would post some pics. : Sorry about the red gravel it was all I had spare
  22. I wouldn't put danios in there as they're very active. Maybe guppies or ember tetras.
  23. Nice,what is your stocking?
