  1. just a bit more rock and some stunning corals and im done
  2. my personal preference is a combination in the end thats what it comes down to
  3. if your going for flow then think about those seio pumps that i have in my tank, they have great flow and electricity use is alot lower than a pump. and cost about half the price only advantage closed loops have is invisibility and positioning
  4. do you want to have no visible plumbing/powerheads or do you not really careabout having a power head here and there?? and what are you plans for keeping in the tank?? what type of corals? other than the dirty anemone
  5. http://www.eaquanature.com/store/default.php?cPath=42_127 good place for new eheims
  6. any chance of getting me a stand to?? let me know how much it would cost. ive got the RRP's for the little giant pumps but i need to ask my friend what kind of deal he can cut me
  7. mhs are about the same price as PC lighting in NZ there are more people using halides than PC so there are more bits and peices around ive got a 150w arcadia unit you can buy if interested
  8. so i take it noone has any pics??
  9. its just about bang for your buck, no point going to the LFS and paying 300$ for a pump if you can get something superior for 200$ second hand eheims are great as suphew said. what are you planning to make your stand out of??? make sure your holes are drilled in a place that the stand can accomidate
  10. steel frame of wood?? instead of wood? what size/shape/quality steel is best and what prep do you need to do to it to make it rust proof, i would like to use steel for my new stand but dont know much about it
  11. i dont mind not being able to get liverock but banning the little rocks that sps/lps/softie colonies are attached to is a little bit overkill imo.
  12. all setup now, i put in a few mushrooms zoos and my orange fungia (so it doesnt have to compete with my wifes monster purple fungia) need to tweak the aquascaping to hide the heater but other than that its all go. i also treated it for flat worms just to be safe (i dipped all the rocks either in fresh water or water from the main tank treated with Flat worm exit). hopefully that should be the end of the little beasties for the nanonano. if not im sure there is enough live rock/pods to support a mandarin ill put up some pics tonight if i can be bothered. after a week or so of trailing it should be good to take to work.
  13. need to go to pick up the info this afternoon.
  14. i'll let you know in about half an hour what i can get my greasy little hands on
  15. who made your brace pies??
  16. trickle filters=high nitrates i have an 80L tank that is setup without a sump, having it like that makes the tank look messy and cluttered and for that reason alon i wouldnt have sumps are great, cannister filters are ok for putting in different media like carbon (even some of the bigger reefs on this site use them) but not for ceramic noodles etc skimmers are great and you can see exactly why after using one. water movement is very important as well
  17. I dipped some rock in fresh water before putting into the nano, would this have a large effect on the bacteria??? there where two baby snails on it as well that seem ok so far but ive heard that sudden salinity changes can hurt snails.
  18. you can use any pump you want, ill get some prices tommorow for little giant pumps, it comes down to how much your willing to pay.
  19. nice, i need to take a pick of my one that ive got (different type) but same thing happened, looks great and is colouring up even more
  20. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=569987&perpage=25&pagenumber=2 one of these would go down nicely, cool thing is the reefrats come in/will come in 240v
  21. i got the last few bits of plumbing today, (minus the last bulkhead which they didnt have anyof) ill be siliconing the back onto the tank and put in the bulk heads spraypaint the back and give her a test run once i figure out how to attach the fluval to the 15mm pvc
