  1. if someone could move this to the general breeding section that would be good by the way, they have all hatched now and are sucking onto the top of the bamboo. what do i do now, i chucked a spirulina disc in there the eggs sacks are still massive, anything else i should feed them??
  2. they started hatching today, there are three at the back of the cave so far, they are soooo cute i was suprised how big they are, probably 8mm from tip to tail. i will try get some pics, the male bn always has his tail in the way though
  3. i have heard tin foil barbs are good, bristle noses or rainbow fish.
  4. do a google image search on "labidochomis freibergi" these are what i think are electric blues, although i think electric blue is a very broad term. how about those johanii??
  5. male is 9cm and the female is 11-12cm. is it possible to post vidoe's on here, i want to get one of them hatching
  6. I will have to be prepared with bbs this time.
  7. they were floating in a container in the tank with an air stone, i even took out the dead ones with a eye dropper. The conatiner didn't have water slots in the side for circulation, but i did water changes.
  8. Here are the pictures, couldn't work out how to resize them and then get them on photobucket, so they may take a while........ Here is the Female Bristle Nose.... Here is the male with the eggs.... same again.... and the bamboo section they spawned in.... sorry about the bad quality pictures, but it was kinda hard using the flash and getting even light and it didn't focus very well.
  9. They were free swimming but they still had eggs sacks. The spawn of angels due to hatch now have been eaten, hopefully that pair that had the fry b4 will lay again soon.
  10. The filter is just a sponge one, so is not powerful at all. pics are uploading to photobucket now
  11. I have had numerous angel pairs spawning lately, this time i seperated the fry once they were 5 days after hatching. Now they are all dead:(. They died off slowly, they still had egg sack, but they seemed to go for the microworms. I have another spawn due to hatch int eh enxt few hours at the earliest. Should i let the parents do their stuff or try artificially again??
  12. I woke up this morning and looked in the section of bamboo in the tank with my pair of bristle noses, and found a nice big clump of eggs on the roof of the cave, about halfway back. I was quite suprised because I though I might be waiting years yet!! oh well, i came home from school and the male was out side, does he take breaks sometimes?? otherwise he is normally on the other side of the eggs, fanning them with his tail. one of the eggs must have floated oout the door during spawning and was on the gravel outside the cave, i didn't bother picking it up, is it possible that he may have put it with the others?? What size is the best size to take them away from the parents?? The other fish in the tank are, one gold killie - (panchax??), one female guppy and a whole lot of males, the tank is 75cm long. I will get some pics soon!!
  13. can you really tell from that early?? i keep at average 4 females in with my male at a time and then take one out if it is holding and put in another one. i have 2 females that i would look at and say they are males, but they have both bred successfully so they must be females.
