  1. i personally don't use it on my african tanks because it makes the pH go down?? BUT if you were prepared to put in the required chemicals, or you had crushed coral/aragonite as a gravel it would be alright. btw there are some tough plants out there that can withstand an african tank (i can't name any  ) but i also dont use them because i am always catching fish and moving them, stripping them etc.
  2. i like mine, he is the boss of the tank (7 footer, 800litre), the colour of his body is really cool, i am trying to get hold of some importers.
  3. hi I recently purchased raza_mans fiah tank with all the fish in it, so i have a maylandia greshakei. let me know fi you find any females, or i will let you know if i find any. how big is your one??
  4. oopps, yes the tank is 800 litres, i have seen 3 multi's at someones house in chch. i will do a google to see what the featherfins look like. thanx Catbrat
  5. Ok, i have a 80litre tank with a bottom area of 60cm x 210cm. The only catfish are three algae eaters 2 are 8cm, the other is 13cm?? I want to get some kind of synodontus sp. that looks good and is not to expensive (i am not very well off with the old money at the moment) the water will be at 8.2 pH and around 10 kH. I know someone will suggest synodontus multipunctatus, but i dont want them interfering with the other fish when breeding. So does anyone have anything that meets these requirements?? BTW i am also after some large bristle noses from 13cm upwards. any help would be much appreciated

  9. my only concern was that the cucumbe rhas little protein and fibre. so i went for a commercial product. i think it may be the tank, angel fry die within 2 weeks in that tank, i will have to give it a thorough clean before making it an african tank.
