  1. this is a good explanation about a new setup: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/cycling.php
  2. so you are monitoring the PMs ?
  3. if you like sausages and I mean real sausages not that sawdust or pink slime crap normally sold as sausages go and have a look at the Blackforest Gourmet Butcher I am a swiss, not a german, as a swiss we like germans as you like ozzis but they make great sausages...
  4. ...did you copy my patent ? :rotf: :rotf:
  5. yes, looking good, with dimmer and shipped from OZ, probably faster than 2 weeks... I ordered these yesterday and will let you know when they arrive here. I will use an aluminium profile from Bunnings (as suggested from JaSa) and will post a picture or two when done. I will also include some blue LEDs as some sort of a moonshine light (as seen on the german axo forum)
  6. and beside what JaSa already said, why pay NZ $145 plus shipping cost for something that you can get it for US $16.95 (NZ $20.50) including shipping (ok, you have to wait for 2 weeks to receive it).
  7. I put a bin outside more than 2 weeks ago filled with rain water. I have pieces of bark in it as islands. I did munch peas and spinach in a blender and put that into the water to make it more greenish (read that here somewhere). beside some drowned beatles and moths there is nothing going on in it. no mosquito larvas nothing. the bin is on the shade side of the house, does it have to stand in direct sun light, would that may help ? (I also went with a fine fish net thru several ponds we have here in the forests but beside tonns and tonns of boatman in all sizes there are no mosquito larvas neither). strange...
  8. I did build something different to attach to my vacuum cleaner. I used two water bottles, a nylon sock, a hose and some clear tape. two bottles are cut in halfe, the nylon sock was put on one end and the two bottles taped together. both hoses are removable and I can put the 'trap' as it is to the frogs and wait till it's empty and go for another 'suck'
  9. well, they could adopt couldn't they... ?
  10. I went another way with my moth trap (found some ideas via google) and did build this trap yesterday. I turned it on yesterday before dark and after 2 hours I have had enough moths for months... as I use most of the moths for my Axolotl and I feed them by hand the moths do not need to be alive. can I freeze them so they stay 'fresh' ?
  11. interesting, defenitely interested in the cyclops myself...
  12. I know that, don't tell anyone else...
  13. thanks Stella, it's one of my axolotl I am currently foster... ...little buddy is now twice the size and hungry
  14. Mcculloch, how many geckos did you actually catch with that one... ?
  15. question: do we have superworms here in NZ ? (like mealworms but bigger)
  16. yes, that's why I did ask if they are still in business...
