  1. hrmmm, when I asked about it I got 3 different responses, 1:- absiolutely fine to sell without a licence 2:- required a licence unless they are tank bred 3:-you may not sell them at all... I decided not to sell them as there is a law stating that you may not sell any new zealand aquatic creature or something like that (this was in a thread a while back about the trademe sales) but if the guys in the places where we should be asking for help don't know how is anyone else supposed to know.
  2. Ok quick update, I have talked to several suppliers and they are actually reading this thread with some interest, so there might be a few new additions in the early new year. unfortunately many will not make the list due to space and financial constraints, some of these fish being asked for have been investigated before and one in particular (they didn't say what) would be at least $650 + freight + gst at wholesale prices, with minimum size shipments and the actual likeleyhood of sales I would suspect it will be a no show. But the importers ARE listening, and they are browsing our forum, and they are trying their best to provide what we want within their limitations.
  3. I picked up a brand new one full at bunnings for $85
  4. nice tank. just looks like its a whole lot less effort than the rest
  5. yes, if there is nothing else but I would have to ask why you would bother paying for something tat is living in ust about every creek/stormwater drain in your area. also then you would not be breaking the law
  6. im pretty sure theres a story behind LMFAO - Im sexy and I know it seriously considering what the dude looks like
  7. buy yourself a nice big nasty to keep the bad hybrids down, makes culling a lot less heart breaking
  8. thy do ok up to 26-27 degrees, they thrive under 25 degrees. I have them in my plant tanks in the store t clean up algae and dead leaves, they work wonders.
  9. hrmmmmm.... now who was I giving crap to that didn't deserve it the other day???
  10. ummmm..... what petshop is selling freshwater shrimp??? do tell
  11. oh, seriously sorry if i've annoyed or offended you in any way, im a bit of a sarcastic person and poke fun at anything that moves. im not trying to be mean or anything, just making jokes in poor taste. I won't promise that I won't do it again, but know that it is not out of malicious intent. I do the same to anthonylaw and his english is worse than yours even though its his first language. damn there I go again I know because you said so last time I gave you a ribbing. its just the Kiwi thing to do, at least your not an aussie, they don't know how to take a joke.
  12. yeah but you can do that without hybridisation i.e goldfish, balloon mollies etc.....
  13. they do tend to be a bit shy until breeding time, lotsa dither fish is the key ime
  14. I know its your second language, thats what makes it so much fun
  15. would not be surprised if they crossbreed, if they do make sure to show us and also make sure anyone who buys hem knows what they are. OB peacocks are a hybrid anyways.
  16. I would give you useful help if you wrote stuff without errors in english translation that was sooooooo easy to poke fun at. Beardies do ok outside and im sure they would do well in the nelson climate. if he wants t go inside recomend LEopard geckos, as they are (supposedly as I have never had the pleasure) easy care reptiles as long as you have a good supply of live food. also a good option would be Axo's or Turtles (they have sooo much personality, PM DonnaM for heaps of help) I personally would steer clear of bluetongues, they are great reptiles but if he is not 100% keen they can be a bit boring even though they are rather tame, they just don't move too much.
  17. yes but if humans weren't in the equation their ranges would overlap craploads more, giving the chance of hybrids an increase, also increasing the possibility of fertile hybrids and there fore survival of the fittest style evolution occuring. remember that the Sabre tooth dissapeard about the same time that human civilisation was developing, also that at least 3 subspecies of lion and 3 of tiger are now extinct because of us, feed them the rapists and watch them thrive btw YES cichlids do hybridise in the wild, there was a recent paper published on cichlids in lake nicaragua hybridising and developing into completely new species withing 10 generations.

  22. hrmmmm.... cross breed Lygers..... genetically if they are able to cross breed they likely would.... unless humans got in the way.
  23. just ondering if the browm hair algae is related to the BBA, I have noticed it responds to similar issues.
  24. +1 all dogs are bred from wolf stock, so how can we judge. I personally think we should protect our natural stock, but if we can play why not, god made man to be god.
  25. no chance of that. btw had to laugh.... "tomorrow on Good Morning" "mike king some other guy on youth suicide" "and then some chick on New zealand's booming gunge scene"
