  1. ummm have to say it... UARU not urau :sage: sorry it was beginning to annoy me
  2. personally heard some bad things about those $25 LED clip ons, there are really good ones by Dmax that retail around the$70, but seriously nothing wrong with a $10 desk lamp and $5 energy saver bulb, cheap enough power wise, heaps of light for plants. juts make sure you mount it vertically as the light intensity for horizontal mounts is pathetic.
  3. I personally do use the live fish cycling approach if I'm not setting up a shop tank. make sure that you are planning on keeping the fish in the long run. for a 60L tank unless it is rather tall I would consider danios or any of the smaller tetras, or guppies/platies (just make sure you use only males or you'll end up with an over stocked tank pretty quickly).
  4. I would be careful of playing with your pH unless you are trying something a bit more advanced. 7.0 is pretty much perfect for just about every common fish you see. also some of theose pH down products can add other things into your tank like phosphates and sulphates
  5. also you must factor in the lost profits from having tanks tied up with your fish, and $30 - $50 per fish would be about exporter prices for most of the less common species.
  6. what?? there was water and a bank???
  7. had to laugh at obama using the line "we need to break our dependance on foreign oil" hrmm.....by making the oil feilds in other countries part of america???
  8. what??? there was a fish in that photo???
  9. ime the nautilus range is completely silent, so big tick there, but have a slightly higher power consumption (eheim tend to be among the most power friendly for size)
  10. haahahahaahaha so peoples make sure you count your daphnia now and only take your limit of 50 :sml1: :rotf: :slfg:
  11. not to sure of the name but there is a really good shop in Tauranga that specialises in LED technology. My dad put me onto them. Can;t remember their details as I was too tight to spend money n it (plus I got a fluro hood for free at the same time) Ask Sheepsnana, I'm pretty sure he has the contact details.
  12. I was breathing with my tongue out thinking I was cool until I read the rest
  13. except the third world, untill Brangelina adopts them Personally I do not think the world would actually collapse if america died tomorrow, Its more an ego thing with them. statistically NZ's economy actually dropped less than it should have if America had as much of a stranglehold on the worlds economy as they seem to think. then again, anyone with half a brain coulda seen it coming a mile off. My calculus teacher predicted it 10 years ago and got it almost perfectly to the date.
  14. how long, they pretty much can do just about anything with LED's nowdays. just don't try to skimp with them, you'll save money in the long run but not if you have to replace them cause they are dodgy
  15. interesting... everyone I know who has one can't speak of them highly enough. what sort of bad feedback have they got??? worst comment I ever heard was too much flow rate, but that was because the guy got it free with a 120L low long tank so kinda to be espected
  16. love the work, but seriously??? pink gravel????

    "The List"

considering you seem to be the main one complaining, why don't you ring them???? I have passed on their comments, I have put it forward to them what you want, and they have all said the same thing... work out a way to make it worth their $$$$ and they will be happy to help. they are trying their best to do things and they also always try to tack a couple of non earners onto every shipment. (BTW some top quality Clown knife fish just came in) btw just to give you an idea the current price of halfbeaks (as asked for) is around $20-$30 NZ thats before you consider shipping quarantine, holding and potential losses.... I dont see them being available anytime soon, even though they are high on my wish list. also think about the step above the importers, maybe the EXPORTERS find that the species you are looking for are not worth their time....
  18. I thought they told you they don't have a licence. also I seriously doubt anyone would shell out the $$$ to sell them at $3 a hit. also wouldn't the collector need a licence too
  19. pics??? could just be a colouring thing, or a sign of breeding colours beginning (they go quite dark) also the edge of the tail tends to go darker with age to a black eventually (more noticable in dimly lit, heavily planted tanks)
  20. its not an offence, but it is supporting an illegal activity.
  21. have a look in the native section of the forum, this comes up quite a bit
  22. there are no freshwater crustaceans on the allowable import list so no, they can't be imported.
  23. as far as I know it has never been done (unless the guys a MIT are keeping something back) Every female in berry I have ever seen has eventually died while holding.
