They're around and getting easier to find, retail at around $400nzd for young ones.
  2. Pretty sure most neon tetra are blue...... Do you mean green neons?
  3. If using leds you will need at a minimum 3w chips with quite a low degree optic to be able to penetrate that deep, honestly your best bet will be the halides on a tank that deep especially if wanting to grow a carpeting plant dude. You could possibly get away with using a few HO T5s but my advice is just use the halides.
  4. Cool story bro, needs more dragons.
  5. I think calling it a recession is not taking into account that now a lot of people buy equipment from overseas retailers at a much cheaper rate than what is available locally. With livestock a lot of places have stopped selling marine as the quality has not been the best and now there are a few good stores which do have great quality control who will also ship which means people now have a choice when it comes to where they buy their livestock from. It may not be good for businesses but it is good for hobbyists.
  6. Add it to your profile dude, it's under profile/location in User Control Panel.
  7. I personally feel that this is an issue which needs to be led by the people with a commercial stake in the hobby, the general consensus seems to be from hobbyists I have discussed it with that the price increase isn't a huge deal to them and is certainly not enough to put them off the hobby.
  8. You need to invest in a camera lol
  9. Smells fishy to me.......
  10. How are you managing to cycle these tanks so fast?
  11. Try the DAPS facebook page, Blair Bowler on there supplies quite a few.
  12. You should stop taking critters from the wild if you don't know if you can house them properly mate.

Coldwater guppies are a myth, as Ira said. Paradise fish should be kept in species only tanks.
  16. I personally wouldn't worry too much, if the tanks are pretty mature I doubt you will even notice anything different.
  17. Contact Camtang, he has quite a few plants you may be interested in dude.
  18. 27th of this month, at the Rutherford, 11am if I am reading it correctly.
  19. Where are you located? Add it to your profile. Cost and availability of dry rock varies greatly in different parts of NZ so anywhere between $10-20/kg is pretty normal. It's usually cheaper to buy a lot of someone who has closed down a tank and are looking to move it off at a discounted price. Also, how much are you after?
  20. This thread is seriously lacking pictures!!!!

Sounds to me like someone overfed the tank.
  22. Wonder if he's still trying to get tuataras to mars?
  23. Wow, just had a browse of some of his old posts, wow is all I can say. Amelia my advice is to just keep looking as this guy is definitely a few sandwiches short of a picnic.
