  1. I dont know, I dont have a problem with them being perminant, it just seems like they are a temporary thing, especially as some of them are much larger then other smilies. e.g. :cr5: :cr3: :cr6: :cr11:
  2. I use aqua one canisters, that is as far as my budget has ever stretched. I clean the filter pad whenever the flow starts to reduce, which is about once a month.
  3. I am a fan of canister filters, they are great filtration, they dont take up much tank space, and can be hidden fairly easily which is good, the main downside I see to them is they can be a little bit of a pain to clean. As for using one to filter two tank, I can think of some complicated plumbing that might make it work, so theoretical yes, but practically if is just easier to run one tank off a filter.
  4. I have exactly the same problem, but I shall live with is because I imagine it is a lot of coding to change it just for a little while around Christmas.
  5. Maybe the water is to hard, and/or not enough oxygen in the water.
  6. Congrats at on the eggs. I spent the day at the beach having fun with friends, Apparently I am sunburnt, but I cant see it. Thats probably because I am colour blind though.

    Nice pic

You are right, it is a nice picture of your fish, wish I could take them that nice.
  8. that is not bad, I feel sorry for you. Did you remove the chlorine from the water in your water change, and how did you clean the filter?
  9. Sounds just like what my mum says about people in the fish hobby. although I may agree with the sentiment, I think you may be being a little to harsh there, that is all. Why dont you make a salad, that is good food, and you dont get hot making it.
  10. I want to know what fish they were, but $50-$100, they are not that expensive fish. :smot: but I like the alliteration in the title.
  11. Crashing the internet, thats quite an accomplishment.
  12. Atleast it is only leaves, they are easy to clean up, my cat brings in animals for me, and some times he gives them to me alive  They are much harder to clean up.
  13. The tiles shouldnt leach anything, but if it does it will be just a little bit of lime, same as old concrete tanks, but it doesnt pose any major risk to fish apart from raising the pH slightly. The bigger problem is the nitrates given off by dirt in your tank (leaves, bird poo, etc.).

    Hey Hey

Welcome to the forum, hope you have a fun time.
  15. And if you were worried abouyt the betta's jumping over you could put a grid/grill in the gap. As for the lighting I would think you could still have lights above the tank, the spray bar wouldn't block that much of the light.
  16. That tanks looking great.
  17. We have only run out of water once in the ten years that we have been living in Beachlands, and that was because the head of the hose popped off while we were away for a weekend and drained the tank. But the only reason we don't run out is because mum goes extreme water police on un whenever it is summertime.
  18. 6pm is a much better time to go running, but it is still to early for me to go running. yup, I live in the lovely Beachlands, and am hoping for it to rain soon so mum stops complaining to me about my 'using all our water' doing water changes.
  19. Ahhh, that sounds far nicer then running in the burning sun that Beachlands gets.
  20. Good luck with your running, but running at 10am, how did you not die in the heat?
  21. So much nice wood, why cant I find nice bits like that.
  22. Sorry, I didn't check what I wrote. The longer one, so the aro has more swimming room
  23. You cant get less then nothing though.
  24. Thats a nice tank, not sure how well it would work when the arowana is bigger though. Personally I would say put the arowana in the bigger tank as it would have more swimming room, and are you thinking silver arowana or asian arowana.
