  1. Asked a new question must've gone over the top or something? Hi So they were legally imported? I called MAF but no pick up, I've heard a story about these being in the country before, MAF found out and destroyed all the fish and everything in the tank along with the marimo balls. Thanks Yes they were brought through the airport, scanned, sniffed by the dogs, & papered. Do some research they are not considered pests at all & they arent harmful in any way, so I think what you heard was just a story. Please stop your harassment on my auction. You're probably thinking of rock snot, didymo or something! Our airports have very strict regulations and checks and if you have no confidence in our systems then thats your problem. They destroy on sight if things are a problem. Good riddens Interesting :smln: the must be allowed for import now or something?
  2. Using 50:50 tank water to new dechlorinated water will help. Wash your pebbles in tank water, beleive it or not the pebbles also have beneficial bacteria, also if you have ornaments they contain BB as well. If you transfer a majority of the filter media over it will also help. Just don't stock it really quickly HTH
  3. Hello I was thinking of culturing fruit flies for a few whistling tree frogs. They are currently tadpoles at the moment but have very small back legs. So I put some fruit in a jar with a funnel blocking off the top and yeah, got a lot of fruit flies. They have little orange/red eyes. So I was wondering how you culture them? After a bit of reading and what people use for DIY mediums, I have Yeast Water Oats Sugar Vinegar white apple cinder ect. Can I make a medium out of this? If so how? I was also thinking about culturing small crickets. I have absolutely no clue on how to do this, so if anyone can help on this it would be much appreciated And on the topic of frogs, I should really start preparing a land area for the frogs, so their nocturnal and like hiding places and have shallow water either wise they'll drown. Some people use sphagnum moss for the land, but I've heard mixed reviews about it and how it rots after a while. Is there anything else I can use? I was thinking about going and collecting river sand, would this work? Of course I'll go buy some low light plants and find some useable driftwood. Is this all I really need for whistlers? And what do you feed yours? Any info links or help is aprreciated Matt
  4. Yeah, all the drunken rage, saw some guy at the super market, his cart was full of booze..
  5. Apparently someone put 100K on France, well there's a huge fish tank gone but imagine if they did win that's like $700k...
  6. Well as other people have said, be cautious. Also marimo is an algae, and algae can spread fast marimo balls only grow about 5cm per year and get to the size of 30cm their so cool  In other terms: Well I asked the question on one of their other auctions Response Hi in regards to the marimo balls ( I asked a question on it but someone else bought it) How did you get these? I though they had never been legally imported into NZ? Thanks Oh sorry I never saw the question, I know its weird but its the New Zealand airport and MAF that decide whether or not these things can come into new zealand & plus I think there are bio-forms that sellers have to fill out before exporting I take Boisecurity201 at university. When you think about it there are many overseas plants throughout trademe & on the market e.g chinese wind mill palm trees, japanese maple trees etc. Mine wasn't black market don't worry haha, Thanks for your interest :-) posted by: jazz217 (483 ) 1:54 pm, Sun 23 Oct I might give MAF a call and see if these were actually legally imported? Called and no response, they must have labour weekend off, I'm so tempted, but not going to risk it at the moment.
  7. It's alright we will bring Sonny Bill Williams on. Nek Minute Sonny Bin Williams. :slfg:
  8. looks like someone bought it...
  9. Yeah I reckon nz 15 and over. What is the TAB? I though it was like $1.10 for ABS and $7 for France?
  10. Not sure, but I beleive they form in lakes in Japan, something about forming balls, they suck up sediment and stuff so that's why they haven't been imported?
  11. Well I have left a Q asking how did you get them. So I will wait for a response :bounce:
  12. Yeah, I though id check here first before buying and it looks like I won't be buying. :tears:
  13. Okay, after some reading from other threads, they are not allowed in NZ. :tears: man I love them they are so cool!
  14. Wow I'm I though they were banned but I found some on TM are they banned? Genuinely interested in buying some if they are legal. I didn't see them under pest plants. So if someone can give me some insight? http://www.trademe.co.nz/home-living/outdoor-garden-conservatory/plants-pots/indoor/auction-416419658.htm

    The What's Up? thread.

Playing Nyan Cat instead of studying this morning because it's epic as.
  19. +1 we have one of those for our pool, big black coils of piping on the garage roof, the sun heats the water up in the pipes, then the pump pumps it into the pool. The thinner the tube the hotter the waters going to be because there is more surface area to 1ml or 1L of water.
  20. Up side is that you can sell the fry when they are grown for $35 :slfg:
  21. Well not just that he had a few cheap shots at richie as well, plus he's a nzer playing for Aussie ... Felt a bit bad for him when everyone booed at him when he got the ball though
  22. Yeah something insane like 100ppm? Not to say that it should be ever this high, better to have them low then high,
  23. Also you can look on amazon and eBay, but some don't ship to nz, and if the do it's expensive ie $55 from USA to nz, for a turtle dock, which easily doubled the price >.
  24. I'm NOT positive but I don't think you can, I was trying to order a magnetic dock and I couldn't find where to order it. I signed up and everything but still nothing. Matt Sorry typo
