  1. Hi everyone Thanks for all the replies. I guess I can hold off for a week to re silicone, if it makes life easier. I'm up in hamilton and will go out to the goldfish bowl tomorrow if I can. Will post some updates when I get home and start the re silicone and leak testing the week after. Thanks Matt
  2. :slfg: thanks Alan, I think that is what I'll try to do, so wait 72 hours or 1 week?
  3. I did, it ended up spreading even further
  4. Bugger, I will probably have to reseal the insides, and will try that method. I smudged it a bit when trying to clean it up with nail polish remover. Thanks Matt
  5. Hello Today I've started to build my aquarium and stand. Here are pics of the short stand: Putting it together Undercoat First coat Second coat Just a black stand. The aquarium Dimensions: 40cm(L) x 30cm(W) x 25cm(H) Base Back Base siliconed in Side silicone One side in place Two sides in place Front with silicone Front side in Full tank shot I have a few questions I was told not to remove silicone on the outside. Do you take it off once cured? And it's probably too late now, but how do you clean up silicone? I mucked up some of the inside and it doesn't look very nice. Im thinking of using a razor blade but any suggestions on how to do it is appreciated. I will be doing a leak test next weekend. I don't think it was too bad of a job considering I've never done anything like this before. I will be planting it up maybe with a few ottos. Maybe an iwagumi look. Any suggestions is appreciated, But I hope you enjoy. Matt
  6. I don't expect a reply. Its solely for the purpose for him to feel guilt in some way, or that is my hope.
  7. No more than 10 cm. so you reckon 600L/h
  8. Oh, are the bottom ones fry? What do you feed them on?
  9. nice, they look quite different in the two pics. PS Happy Birthday
  10. I reported it to trademe as well. Making the case that is not a full set up and misleading. It's missing a basking dock and UVB bulbs and a heater guard. And he shouldn't have pebbles in there either wise the turtle will eat it and get impaction, after leaving a piece of my mind in the comments and queries section.
  11. I'm not sure what you mean by head height. But tank is 25cm tall, container that I will building it in will be about 20cm.
  12. Yeah I saw that, I mean it's fine for like a 1"-3" RES ... Which will only be like 6 months... calm, calm... Nope time to rage. :an!gry
  13. Hi I saw this thread http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=24585&hilit=Filter+Canister&start=30 the other day and I was pondering on building it. :dunno: so to my understanding it is just the suction of the filter sucking in water and pushing it out? So I was thinking of having a grate about a 1cm under the power head, so the media does get caught up on the filter. then under the grate sponge, then bio noodles then maybe another sponge? Its for a 30L tank and I was thinking of a 300L/h pump, which is 10x turnover so it should be enough. Does anyone have any suggestions for improvement? Thanks Matt
  14. +1  good job, after reading some of the unanswered questions on the original sellers blue tongues....
  15. With turtles, they can grow up with each other never fighting with one another then one moment they just turn and fight. Idk about blue tounges but it think I could be similar.
  16. I'm no expert, but separate them first. Then you can go about and find why they are fighting. Did reptilez ever have any problems with fighting?
  17. Yeah I guess so, but theyre so aesthetically unpleasant :nilly:
  18. :slfg: notice how the eventually turns to a I think he knows what looks best. IMO better with the full beard. Kinda reminds me of a fisherman
  19. :slfg: I'm going nano too, 30L... I was thinking of using fluorite or JBL balls. Just though I'd pick your brain for some information, as I really like your tank
  20. thanks Sophia, I'm weighing up high tech or low tech. Most likely low tech. Bigger is not always better haha time for me to get on TM and start looking for equiptment  Are you using a substrate fertilizer?
  21. nice tank. A few Qs about it, What are the dimensions? What kind of filtration and lighting are you running on it? And yeigh or neigh or CO2?
  22. Hey dragonz Here's a link to the topic with set up pictures, not sure how much it's changed though http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=53999&p=588933#p588933
