  1. Nope, I don't think my turtle could cope with it. Every time he sees me he splashes and races to what ever side of the tank I'm on... I'm sure some fish do this :slfg:
  2. Yeah, I think it's based on depth of water/watts now?
  3. Meh decided against it today. Cleaned it up with a razor blade a little and it looks good. I will do a leak test tomorrow. The Plan: 1. Take it outside 2. Put dry towel underneath 3. Fill with water 4. Wait :nilly: (how long should I wait for?) 5. Check towels for leaks. 6. Repair leaks (how do you know where the leaks are?) Would one of these lights work? http://www.trademe.co.nz/pets-animals/fish/lights-lamps/auction-421803143.htm#qna It's T5/11W and 2 bulb. Im thinking its not enough 7.5G/11W but it looks nice and is relatively cheap. Thanks Matt
  4. Man I couldnt agree with you more. Im taking the build up to calc next year, I originally was going to do stats, Nek Minit
  5. Oh nah I got graphing sorted. It's the probability tables and graphs that I'm lost with. Like they give you median, mean ect. And box and whisker graphs and line graphs. That's what I'm stuffed with. I don't know what you're supposed to comment on?! Seems like an English problem to me :an!gry
  6. Is anyone taking level 1? I'm so lost with probability, not the Maths side but with all the writing and stuff. I can do the advertisements and stuff, but the ones where they give you some graphs and tables and stuff, then your supposed to write stuff on it? :an!gry :nilly: Apart from that my study's pretty good, know all my accounting definitions off by heart
  7. :slfg: one per break, and by the time you've finished cleaning them all it'll be Monday again.
  8. I found marbles are a pain. When you go to remove them *squish.... Plus they are expensive

    The What's Up? thread.

Huh, does the whole country have their exams at the same time? My mates whose yr 12 had English this afternoon
  10. Chlorine tester? We got one for our pool, and I doubt the would reimburse you. Can always add a little more prime if you wanted too. HTH
  11. I had it on some moss. Definately not blue green algae, more of like a dying BBA. Not much you can do, except as Li@m suggested.
  12. To be honest, I don't use chlorine remover that often in my 200L. Only if it's more than 50%. Can you work out roughly how many liters it'd be? I don't think many pond keepers do water changes on them. But because you want to see the fish, you may want to. You can get a pond water changer and it hooks up to your hose. You shouldn't need too, depending on how concentrated the chlorine is, and how much you changing. In conclusion, small water changes+little chlorine in water=no problem
  13. You should be fine if you let water sit for a while, it will probably still contain chlorine; but not as much. If you want snails take them, you'll probably get them in your plants anyway. There's no problem with snails, they eat decomposing plants and help keep algae in line. It depends on how much circulation you have in the pond. Little circulation=little oxygen, more circulation=more oxygen. I think it's called barley straw, and that can help keep algae out. Also water changes will helps. HTH
  14. Haha sounds like an awesome year  Yeah I did, I'm sorry I didn't reply, completely forgot  I'll get back to you after exams when my tank should be sold and I'll have some funds to buy stuff :happy2:
  15. Gah! Lucky :an!gry I got 6 and one next Monday Tuesday Wednesday :an!gry @josh.... Pssh derived grades... Did you do well in mocks?
  16. Almost. 2 weeks of exams to go :nilly: to the end of year 11  . Have you finished all your exams?
  17. Hi, By sealed loop, you mean like having intake and outtake in the water. I will draw up some plans later. Thanks
  18. Hmm Wen cleaning your filter, did you keep your bio balls in tank water?
  19. So your talking about putting rocks in or out of the pond? Im assuming out as rocks may stretch or puncture the liner. You could stick them together with some high viscosity cement (lots of cement and little water). If you make the pond look nice, I'm sure he will like it. Anyway cat+water=
  20. Huh. What kind of silicone did you use? I used selleys glass silicone, and it suggests 72 hours to cure, and 1 week for use in aquariums :dunno:
  21. Wouldn't you have to wait longer for the silicone to cure? :dunno:
  22. I'm sure you'll be able to get some oxygen weed and stones in the Waikato river. Maybe you could look at native fish? I'm sure some people on here (like Stella) would be able to help you with this. They're not brightly colored like goldfish, but are quite unique. Depening on where you're pond is, you could look at making a waterfall on some sort. I reckon that'd be cool
  23. Hi and Welcome I beleive the pond is too shallow and will heat up and cool down rapidly, this can stress fish. A deeper pond would be more beneficial. I'm thinking 50cm+. It depends on how much light the pond will get also. Acorus is a good bog, marginal plant. Asthetically pleasing IMO. Or you can add oxygen weed, duck weed or any other cold water plants. These plants are easy to grow and have very little requirements. Or lilly pads? Adding things before plants: if they are going in the water just chuck them in. I they are going around the pond maybe a fish safe fertilizer will help them grow. Maybe unecessary :dunno: Adding things before fish: A chlorine remover is probably needed depending on which fish you wish to add (or you could use rain water which won't need a chlorine remover). A filter could be useful, especially if you would like to see the fish :slfg: . You may need to do some research on which type of fish you would like to keep. You could expand to frogs and other animals, but remember they all have certain requirements. :smln: Hope you enjoy your time here, Matt
  24. Add some pictures, and find what species of shrimp they are. Then someone maybe able to help you. HTH
